Holiday pressies... What are you thinking?

I was planning on a toddler razor scooter(he rode one at a cousin's in May and love, love,loved it), something small and then calling it a day.

Now I'm also thinking of getting an easel and a bunch of Thomas stuff.

Too much?

I am not thinking that far ahead yet. In December M will be 19 months and I want to see where he is developmentally before I start shopping. He still is eating crayons and coloring at the same time so until they are no longer a snack they are off the table. I think that I am going to look at a table and chairs for him. He likes the one at my parents (that belonged to me at one time) and at my brothers.

We're spending a ton of $$ to travel out of state for Christmas, to see DH's family so pressies this year will be light. I figure T won't care until she's older so I might as well take advantage of that

I like the scooter idea. Also, FWIW, T got her table and chairs around 19 months - she LOVES it.

I don't think I need to buy anything for his birthday next month OR the holidays. Maybe some clothes and a few books.

I have enough stuff stashed around here that he's never seen yet... including some 1st birthday gifts that haven't seen the light of day. I know grandma is coming to visit next week and she has a nice wooden table and chair set for him, and she always goes overboard in the shopping.

He's also getting a hand-me-down train table from my sister (we just have to drive to PHX next weekend to pick it up.) We just bought two huge tubes of Thomas stuff from a neighbor's garage sale. Plus I have my 40+ year old FB garage playset and a rocket play tent that are still waiting for the appropriate time.

Yeah ::fist pump:: to the FP garage! We still have that, and DH's FP castle, those are solid toys. I like the Razor scooters, the girls drove one into the ground (3 wheel) and they have the 2 wheelers now. They use those and their Plasmacars outside every day.

We don't go overboard here either. And this year is hard, because our possesion date is tentative around mid Dec, so no tree or anything!! Usually we get the kids one toy/wishlist item, one new outfit/top, pj's and bits in the stocking. Max $150/kid. This year we have to do it different. I think we've decided to do one toy, a new hat (see linky for example), and a new item for their new rooms. Haven't set the budget yet, it depends on bonuses. Maybe between $100-$150? Maybe less, moving is expensive. We've done holidays before where we've only spent $200 on everything, extended family included, so if my budget drops, I may pick brains here for ideas!

I'm not sure what to do yet. LO will be 9 months old and it's her first Christmas. I don't see us going crazy. I have a lot of Fisher-Price stuff on an Amazon wish list that I want to go back & look at later. I get this feeling she'll be more interested in chewing on wrapping paper & playing with boxes : )

I don't see MH or me going crazy playing Santa. Now, my side of the family, who knows. LO is the only girl on my side. Her three cousins are all boys. My mom is already threatening to go nuts, lol. I told her not to. When she left for Disney last week, she told me she knew she would buy a ton of stuff for LO and I ended up talking her down from quite a few purchases.

I've been gradually buying a few things here and there...mostly toys. I also have some other toys and books on Amazon that I will revisit. DS is a Christmas Eve baby, so when I buy something I think, "This will be for either his birthday or Christmas." I also bought him some Christmas pjs, which I plan to give to him on Christmas Eve (as a Christmas gift, not b-day)...I'd like to start that as a tradition.

Uh, okay, I'm thinking about cleaning out the gift closet. I've been buying since January! His Easter basket is practically set already for pete's sake. Anyway, he is getting a bunch of cars, mostly Cars models and a plush Lightning McQueen, and some trains for his train table. He is getting a Cars garage and a big box of dinosaurs (thanks to the neighbor's garage sale). He is also getting a pull-string Woody doll with a plush Bullseye to match. Oh and one little travel toddler railroad set of Thomas. The little garage, dinosaurs and railroad thingie add up to his big gift. I would save the easel for next year -- DD has gotten a lot more out of it than DS has (Christmas present last year for both). Oh and of course each gets a Christmas ornament and PJs. Oh and some necessities like a winter outfit and new sippy/thermos I scored off zulily. All bought and most of them wrapped except for the books. Yeah, sad. But Christmas is like a military invasion with no fewer than 6 boxes being shipped to various family and must be planned precisely, especially as I'm the sole wrapper considering DH wraps like a serial killer and considers scrawling a name with ballpoint pen on the front sufficient trim.

I have bought a few small things that I have picked up (books, Christmas Pjs from a sale last yr, etc,etc) , but recently my cousin gave me a HUGE garbage bag full of LeapFrog toys and other goodies. I am just going to wash them down and wrap some. Is that terrible? (I am a SAHM, so we are on one salary)

For a big gift we are going to get him a wagon or my parents are going to get it for him.

Stuff selling out is what got me thinking about it. M loves his Thomas books so I was thinking of getting him, er, action figure or whatever they're called. Can trains be action figures?

Ohhhh please show me this Toddler Razor contraption! Jace has a skateboard and three motorized vehicles but nothing that marry the two. Sounds like a dream come true for him!
