My DH has one. He likes it, but I'm only so-so about it. Visibility out the back window stinks, but it does have a back-up camera to try to make up for it. The blind spots are bigger than they are in my Honda Fit. The trunk is big enough for a stroller and a few small things, but again it loses to my car.
DH used to commute to San Marcos everyday during rush hour traffic and would average about 46mpg (vs. my 32mpg average city driving). They're great for long commutes, but given the price and drawbacks I wouldn't get another one for our current (WAHD and SAHM) situation.
My dad's a Toyota dealer, and they can NOT keep those things on the lot. Nearly every person who trades one in is doing so to buy a newer one. So just based on sales and repeat buyers, I'd say they're a good buy.

My FIL has one and can't stop talking about it. He brags about the gas mileage on it almost every day on FB. I got almost non-stop phone calls, texts and emails when he found out we were buying a new car trying to convince us to buy one. For us it wasn't right but I could see why others drove it and like it.

Word. I've never met anyone who owned one that didn't absolutely love it.
I have had one since 2008. I love it. It is a little hard to get used to the visibility out of the back at first, but after a while it's no big deal. The trunk space is just as spacious as a regular, similarly sized car.
Re: NBR: Does anyone own a Toyota Prius? How do you like it?
