My DD (2.5) has started preschool and LOVES it. We did a mommy and me preschool class there last year. She never cries and enjoys her time there, and never hesiatets to go right in and have fun.
My question is this past summer she did a preschool summer camp at another church and she would cry and throw a fit every time it was camp day (we did 2 weeks). She would also freak out if I even mentioned it and say she didn't want to go, even when I would pick her up she would be in hysterics. Now thinking back on it I do wonder if there was a reason she did not want to go there, if she just did not enjoy it, or have fun. At the time I though she was just sad for me to leave her, but now I don't know. The reason I ask is because my friend that goes to that church is asking about my daughter doing another camp there and I am not sure what to say. Any thoughts, or does that sound like normal toddler behavior?
Re: Random Question regarding Preschool:
Have you tried talking to her about it? I often have to ask Harmon why he is unhappy doing something. Like this past week I asked him why he didn't like the cabin and he told me his cousins were very mean. I had no idea!
Also another thing is if she is under 3 maybe the program was too much for her. Not all programs are tailored to really young preschoolers and I noticed Harm's summer camp was less structured/more students than his normal pre-k was. If that is the case maybe she wasn't ready last year and might be more ready this year.
This. Kids are so fickle. The smallest thing can set some kids off.
My DD#1 started soccer and at practice the first day she walked off the field because she didn't like one of the exercises they were doing. She told me she didn't want to go back. Now? She loves soccer!
