MoM's - how bad is your PP belly?

We saw the Jon & Kate +8 episode last night where she showed her PP belly... OMG!!  It looked like a big saggy butt on her front!!

I know she had SIX babies- but i'm so worried about how nasty my PP belly will look.... It's not pretty since I had DS - he was 7lb 4oz (a month early)... and I'm 35 so things don't snap back so great anymore...

DH already told me I can get plastic surgery if I really want it - lol.

How bad is it, really?  Will I ever look "normal" without surgery?

Re: MoM's - how bad is your PP belly?

  • I'm only 6.5 weeks pp but mine is pretty icky looking.  It's not SO bad when I'm standing but when I sit it just flops over in a very disgusting way.  I still have like 30 pounds to lose so I think that it might get better... but I know it will never be the same as it was.  It actually seems like the more weight I lose the worse it looks because it looks saggier compared to the rest of me.  When I was chubbier all over it kind of went with the look.  Haha.

  • Mine isn't awful, but it's also not "normal".  With that being said, I have no time to work out and I eat like crap.  Part of it is my own fault.  I need to get my @ss in the gym and stop going through the drive thru!!!

  • Mine isn't too bad. I have a little bit of twin skin, but if I were to actually exercise some and eat better, I could definitely wear a bikini.

I gained 40 lb, I was 32 when they were born, but they were born 10 weeks early and their combined weight was less than 7 lb.

  • I gained 45lbs. and lost 60lbs. by 6 months.  My stomach went back to normal and is pretty flat. No twin skin but my belly button looks different.  Much wider.
  • I won't lie.... it's not good. Not good at all. I too was promised a tummy tuck and every time I bring it up, I am called selfish, vain, you name it. I personally will never look normal without surgery. My abs are aaallll forked up- I have a very hard time lifting my legs while laying on my back and for.get. crunches. I can't sit myself up. I was 27 when I had the girls, so even youth wasn't on my side.

  • When I hunch forward when sitting, it is a bit flabby, but in clothes and sitting normally, it's relatively flat.  I don't think I will ever have the stomach I had before, but I'm definitely making progress and it's not terrible.  I was 135 lbs when I got pregnant and I am less than 5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight right now.  My twins weight combined was about 12 lbs.
  • I gained 33lbs with the girls and lost it all by three weeks post partum. I fit in my pre preg clothes BUT my belly doesn't look the same. It used to be very tight and flat, and now there is a small paunch between my belly button and c-section incision. I don't have stretch marks, but I do have a very dark linea negra still, and I don't think my belly button will ever look the same (and the belly ring holes I had tore - ouch).
  • Mine is gross.  I've never had a super flat stomach, but I've never had rolls or anything.  Now my stomach is just plain yucky.  I've got stretch marks and saggy skin.  Pretty much all the rest of my body went back to normal, but my stomach will never be the same.

I lost all my weight quickly (4 weeks) and work out 4-5 times per week.   But I'm not the healthiest of eaters, so that may play a role.  Also, I'm sure my age is a factor, too.

I think about plastic surgery often.  But I want to make sure I'm done with kids before I try it.

  • I am only 3 weeks out right now but I can't believe how bad mine is. I honestly hadn't thought that much about it before. I knew I'd have some lingering issues, but I never expected this. At this point, I still look about 4-5 months pregnant. Which is down from looking a good 8 (with a singleton) that I was the first week after. I will be shocked if any of my old clothes ever fit me again.

I am totally thinking I am going to need a tummy tuck to ever look "normal" again. oh well.. it was worth it!

  • I have PIB of me 1w & 2w pp. 1.5 years out, it's not great...but not so bad either. ?It's just not tight & flat like it was before, but I could stand to lose 5-10 lbs. too...that would help a lot I'm sure. ?My stomach is just softer & pokes out more. ?eh.?
  • Gail,

I'm 33 & was gigantic when I finally delivered.  My stomach is fine...the skin feels a little weird, but it's not saggy or anything like that.

  • A lot also depends on how big your babies were.  Mine were about 13 lbs combined, and I had a ton of amniotic fluid.  I also gained 65 lbs.  But, that said, my stomach is pretty much flat today -- it's not fat at all, and I certainly don't look pregnant.  The skin is still loose, and I have some stretch marks that are fading, but it seems to still be improving day by day.  I can certainly wear tight shirts without being self-conscious.  But, a bikini?  Maybe next summer, but I'm not holding out too much hope.
  • It's not horrible but it's not fantastic. I gained 28 pounds and have lost it all. But I also had an almost 2-year old when the twins were born and I had a little bit of weight left from that pregnancy too. I basically have a "pooch" left over that I really hope will get better once I lose some weight!!
  • Mine is almost back to normal.  I had a csection, so I still have a small bump over the incision (but its really low).   other than that, not too bad.
