First, DH got sick, then Warner and now it's my turn. Except that for them, they just have a running nose and some sneezes. But, because I'm so lucky, every time I get the slightest runny nose, it turns into a sinus infection. AND I CAN'T TAKE ANY DAMN MEDICINE!
I did take some tylenol when my fever started to get high and that did help a bit, but the sinus pain/pressure is still pretty bad. and because one sinus is completely blocked, I can't even use my neti pot. (I tried, even though the directions say not to...I was desperate.)
and now DH is at work and I'm sick and stuck at home with an energetic two year old all day. we might be watching a lot of Dora and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse today :-(
I'll just add this to my list of "Things that pregnant women should not have to deal with" (along with morning sickness, acne, and peeing every 3 minutes...)
Re: whiny vent: I'm sick :-(
Ugh, I'm sorry. I had a sinus infection around that time in my pregnancy, and I was miserable. I called my OB and they said I could take some OTC pg-approved meds -- can you not take any of those?
I'm the same as you - if I get any hint of sickness, it turns into a sinus infection.
Have you tried the baby ear-dropper nasal irrigation method? It's similar to the neti pot, but you spray the solution up one nostril at a time, and it helps to get things flushed out.
I have had a terrible cold/allergies for the last week so I feel for you in your no medicine state! Hope you feel better soon.
So my mom swears by throwing a wet washcloth in the microwave to warm up and then putting it across your eyes and cheeks. It does help some of the pressure.
I'm sorry and I hope you feel better soon. I got sicker a lot more w/ my 2nd pregnancy, too
I called this morning and they said that I can take Sudafed, but whenever I have taken it in the past, it makes my heart race. My old PCP said that it's because of the pseudoephedrine in it, but that is in a lot of stuff that I've taken without that reaction. Anyway, that reaction makes me kinda scared to take it while pregnant. I'm probably being overly cautious...but I'd rather play it safe.
