Babies: 0 - 3 Months

carseat question

Silly question, but when you get home, do you take your baby into the house in the carseat?  I am thinking that would be the most practical, but we would need to do some rearranging in the garage to get the back doors of the car to open all the way so we can get the seat out without bumping into anything.  Smile

Re: carseat question

  • Yes, car rides lead to sleeping babies (for most).  I do not like to wake a sleeping baby!

  • Absolutely. I couldn't imagine having to take him out of the infant seat every time. What a pain!

DS1 must've finished hundreds of naps in his carseat after arriving home.

  • Looks like I am in the minority. I usually take him out of the seat and carry him in. Then again, he very rarely falls asleep in the car. Usually he cries in his carseat, so as soon as we pull in the driveway, I can not wait to get him in my arms to soothe him.
  • While he's in the infant seat we take him out of the car in it, whether he is sleeping or not.

  • Depends on what else I've got going on. Most of the time, yes, I take the baby in the carseat into the house, but not always, sometimes I unstrap her and leave it in the car.

  • Yes!  Especially in the winter.  The thought of having to transport a little one in the cold is too much.  My other children would sometimes fall asleep in the car seat as well and I would just transport them into the house and let them finish napping in the car seat so as not to disturb them.

  • Normally we take it in and out of the house. For daycare, though, i leave it in the car unless he's sleeping. He will fall asleep in the car, but if I stop too long at a light, he squeals and wakes up. His daycare lady lives in the middle of her neighborhood, so by the time I get through all the stop signs, he's awake.

  • Nope. That thing is too heavy to lug around (i should mention that we live in an upstairs apartment). I have only taken it out once since it has been installed, and that was to put her in it for the ride home from the hospital. Even then, we got home, i took her out and left the car seat in the car.

  • Right now we do but I can see us stopping that soon. There's no way to get into our house without going up/down stairs so he's getting a little too heavy to lug up a flight of stairs every day.

  • We use to yes, was easier to take seat and unbuckle him inside rather than cramped in back seat, but we have now upgraded to a convertable car seat..that one does not come out!!! lol He is way more comfortable in this one. Car rides are much better now that he has more room!!

  • We do b/c it's harder to get her in and out of it in the car.
