Pregnant after IF

Abdominal pain question.

Hi ladies, quick question. On Friday morning I woke up with some really bad abdominal pain on the left side, it feels like a huge trapped gas bubble. It is a constant dull aching but when I get up, sneeze or move to fast it is like a knife stab. I have read that it may be RLP but I am beginning to worry as my belly is tender to the touch, and it is just on one side and I thought it would begin to lessen after a couple of days.

Any insight?

Re: Abdominal pain question.

  • Call your nurse or on-call doc.  RLP doesn't feel like gas.  It feels sharp but does go away.

  • The sudden sharp pains sound like RLP, but I've only ever gotten them when I try to use my ab muscles to do something.  Hopefully some of the other girls can give some more insight.  Hope you feel better soon.

I will go in and see my dr in the morning. There is no on-call anything here. Thanks!

  • RLP should go away if you rest, but gas pain will continue.  Even before I was pregnant, I've been prone to very painful bouts of gas, and it's definitely gotten worse now that I am pregnant.  If it's gas, taking a short walk should help.  I've had a couple of days lately with bad gas, and it's no fun.

If you're running a fever, have any sign of contractions/cramping, or any abnormal bleeding, then go to the ER.  Otherwise, good luck at the appointment tomorrow.  If they give any good tips for getting rid of gas, I'd love to hear them...

So when you get this pain does it last for a few days? Sorry I have no tips on how to get rid of gas :)

  • Yeah, I've had it last a couple of days, but it isn't continuous.  This week, it was really bothering me Tuesday and Wednesday, then I passed a bunch of gas, and all the pain was gone and it hasn't been back.  If I hadn't had gas like this occasionally before I was pg, I would have been freaking out about how much pain I was in.

  • I had this type of pain all last week.  Almost like a bad side stitch (from exercising) on my right side ALL day.  It was so annoying, I was massaging it all the time.  I think it was just my uterus growing and my ligaments stretching.  It seems to have somewhat subsided in the last few days.

  • Finally had a dr. appointment. He was afraid of placental abruption, so we had another ultrasound. Everything in the uterus is fine and in tact, so now it could be the endometrioma on my left ovary or something in my colon. He think we just need to keep an eye on it as there is no real symptom of anything dangerous going on. I feel much better after going to the dr. Also during the ultrasound Reese gave such a big little baby yawn. I am so in love with this little boy!
