We took the kids to visit my parents at a cat show today and half an hour or so after we got there an older woman (late 50s/early 60s) approached us and asked us if the babies were real twins. We answered yes and she gave us a questioning look and then asked us again as if we had been lying the first time. Again we said yes and she finally moved on. I really wanted to say, "No, they're synthetic" but at the same time I didn't want to make a scene. We've gotten the "hands full", "double trouble" and "I've always wanted twins" comments which I always sort of laugh off but this is the first really stupid comment we've encountered.

Re: I got the "Are they *real* twins?" comment today
HA! this exactly.
crazy cat lady! love it.. lol
when dealing with said crazy cat lady you have to speak their language..wouldn't it have been fun to say "yup, real twins from the same litter!"
Ewww. So weird. What is a "real" twin anyway?

Yeah, that one really ticked me off. I got it a lot when I was pregnant. I usually responded "What do you think- my oldest is 13 months old?" This one is just a rude, judgy one.
The dumbass one I got twice and just left me shaking my head is "Are they both twins?"

OMG....LOL! I've gotten that too and I've actually has people come right out and ask if I used IVF....I was like....umm.....I don't know you and that's none of your business.
Yeah I can't figure out if she meant "real" as in spontaneously conceived or "real" as in identical. Either way it's a stupid question.
On another note, hope you had fun at the cat show! Despite the crazy ladies, cats are fab! Ha.
