Terrified of a chemical pregnancy

So I just got my very first HPT after 9 months of trying!!! Very excited!  I even had a positive blood test.  But my period isn't due until Monday so I haven't really 'missed' a period yet.  I'm so scared that the pregnancy won't stick.  Does anyone know the odds of that?  I'm trying to just relax but I so want to get excited but feel like I can't until next week is over.  Thoughts?

  • I totally understand your fears.  I'm having the same and check every time I go to the bathroom to make sure.  I hate having no control over it.  Just try to relax and hope for the best!

  • I don't know the odds, but I do know you can easily drive yourself crazy stressing about it. Just try to relax and stay positive.

  • Just take it easy.  If there is no excessive bleeding (filling a pad in an hour) and really bad cramps, you're in the clear for now.  Chemical pregnancies are very common, but if you're not bleeding you should be ok.  As PP said, remember "As of right now, Im pregnant."

  • The odds of early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy are about 30%, possibly higher.  However, odds mean very little when it comes down to you and what happens to you.  You'll be on one side or the other either way, you know?

The point of terror over it is nothing but making yourself anxious and upset.  Now, believe me, I know it's hard.  I've had 7 other pregnancies and no living children.  But at this point in time, everything is totally outside your control, and will be for a very long time to come.  Either it is working the way it should or it isn't.  Just do your best to be healthy and calm so that you are providing the best you physically can for your baby.

  • Try to relax. I had two chemical pregnancies in the last four months and am pregnant again around 5 weeks. The c/p my wondfo pregnancy test never got any darker. I had a faint line for about four -five days and then my period came. Each time my HCG never got about 25. Hope this helps. Try not to think about it. Easier said than done, right!

  • yeah no reason to make yourself crazy.  once you get a BFP you're definitely pregnant.  anything could go wrong at any time during a pregnancy - you just have to try not to think about all the "what-if's" or it's gonna be a really long 9 months!!  obviously you want to wait until you're a bit further in before you go telling everyone you know... but for now just try to stay calm and think positive!
