I am a worry wart to begin with so pregnancy is just a new branch of anxiety it seems. This was an unexpected unplanned pregnancy that I am dealing with alone with no partner. I am excited to be a mom I love children but I am terrified Im going to miscarry because it seems to happen so much!
I have seen the heartbeat twice. Once at 6 weeks(158), once at 9 weeks(180). Both times baby was fine and the last time the baby was moving all around. I have severe morning sickness that lasts all day every day which has prevented me from eating and drinking correctly. I had to go to the ER a couple days ago to get fluids and zofran through an IV because I was dehydrated and starting to cramp.
Im 11 weeks today and scared because at the ER the nurse came in with a handheld dopplar to find the babies heartbeat. He had a really hard time even knowing where to look it seems and found my heartbeat of course and thought it was the babies. I informed him that was awfully slow and was mine haha. He moved the doppler over my pelvic bone and he said he could hear a very faint faster beat. I didn't hear it.. He said it was 148. Again I didnt hear it.
Is it normal to have not heard the heartbeat very well on doppler at 11 weeks? Also if it truly was 148 isn't that quite a bit slower than 2 weeks ago ? I have no bleeding, no severe cramping, I am only worried because I didnt hear the heartbeat.. They said blood work and urine were perfect and sent me home. I called my dr in the am and she said to take the zofran. My next appointment is in 12 days. Im so worried.
Re: scared :*( first pregnancy alone
I have the responsibility, the love, and the patience to do it alone but having someone to cry to or someone to tell me im being silly when im terrified something is wrong would be such a big help. So I guess I get to turn to you ladies to tell me to hush when Im being irrational. My friend lost her baby at 10 weeks (a week ago) and didnt even know it... had zero symptoms so I think it really shook me up.
I have a feeling all of these hormones are not helping me relax. geez oh man Im a rollercoaster of emotion.
Neither nurse or dr seemed concerned. And when I said Im worried now cuz I couldnt hear that heart beating he said " i heard it and you do not need to worry"
would they have sent me for a different test if he hadn't heard it?
Yep. Honey, you are going to have to try and relax. You're on a good board though. The ladies here are awesome.
Sweetie I'm sorry you're dealing with this alone but PLEASE try not to worry.
I'll be 12wks tomorrow and have 3 other children, and I used a doppler with DD3 and sometimes I have a hard time finding the HB with this one. Usually it works best if my bladder's a bit fuller. And HB's can change, no worries. The first 2-3 times I heard mine it was in the 140's, the next few times in the 160's, now it's been in the 150's, no biggie.
This was going to be my question to you. During my doppler I heard the baby moving but never heard the heartbeat. My OB said she heard it for a second but everything seems great. (I too have a tilted ute)
Don't be worried, it seems like everything is fine with the baby.
Im in the same boat as you, this was an unplanned pregnancy and im doing it alone.
I wouldn't be too worried about the heartbeat, especially if your uterus is tilted back. and Your blood work would have shown a change in the HCG count if something was wrong with the baby.
Im sorry this is so difficult. But just remember to breathe and relax. It is all going to be ok.
Make a pregnancy ticker
A little spotting is fine, i wouldnt worry.
But you have to remember to breathe and you have to calm down, its not good for you or the baby. It is all going to be ok.
Its all going to be ok. Just breathe.
But i agree. This is a scary thing, and doing it alone, although willing, is still terrifying as well.
I know it is hard to be alone and this is a new and scary time.
Have you bought any books about pregnancy? I am reading "What to Expect When you're Expecting" and it answers a lot of questions about spotting and other things that can be potentially worrisome for first time Moms.
I'm sure you can find it at your local library or you can borrow it from a friend as it is a very popular book.
thanks im really glad i have you ladies to talk to
i have no cramping or more blood so i think it was just a small spot.. im keeping an eye on the situation and i have been just drinking water and resting.
I am 12 weeks with a healthy pregnancy. My ob who has a ton of experience with the doppler had a really really hard time to find a heartbeat the other day. I eventually had to bend my legs off the table and arch my back way up to force my uterus up and then she had to push really hard and search for a while. It would have had me worried but we had an ultrasound two days before and all was fine.
I bet everything is ok!
Well my anxiety got the best of me and I started fearing the worst and went to the ER. They were happy I came because I had been in there for dehydration and wanted to make sure it didn't effect the baby. They took urine and checked and everything was fine. Then did a pelvic exam and no blood on my cervix or anything (so the spotting had to have been a broken blood vessel) but they wanted to again make sure the baby was still ok and did an ultrasound. The minute the ultrasound tech smiled and turned the screen towards me i finally was able to breathe. I saw my baby squirming around arms frailing and hear beating strong. Head body and limbs all there. I was sorta alarmed at how big the baby has become and they told me she or her is the perfect size and heart is 158. They told me to continue the zofran so that i can eat and to keep very hydrated. The baby and me are perfectly ok though and I am just so happy that the spotting wasn't anything bad..
Also I did order a fetal doppler so i can get some reassurance from hearing the heartbeat during the rest of the pregnancy. I made sure its one that hospitals and dr's use and is cleared by the FDA. Should be here on thursday.
