Update to post: Dr thinks I might be miscarrying

I posted yday that my doctor thought I was in the process of miscarrying (u/s showed almost two weeks earlier than I thought I was, spotting and cramping since Tuesday). I went in today for more blood work and for an exam.
My betas came in very low (4000) when they should have been way higher for being 7 weeks along (and based on my previous numbers). The doctor said that those numbers are good for someone who is 5 weeks, not 7 weeks, and based on when my chart says I ovulated (bbts, opks, cm, saliva test) she said that the baby most likely stopped growing at 4 wks 4 days and that my spotting and cramps were the beginning of the miscarriage. She said if it doesn't happen in a week, to call her and we will see if a d&c or medicine is an option.
She was really kind and told me how common miscarriages are, how it's better that it stopped growing so early because it will be less painful, told me we could do hormone testing once this was all said and done so I could see why my cycles were so long, etc. She sent me in for an u/s just to verify everything (she also said my uterus felt smaller than 7 weeks). My husband and I waited for the u/s for about an hour and while we were waiting, we were trying to spin this into a positive situation-it's okay that this happened, we will try again, it was not meant to be. We were both feeling okay about it and were ready to move on and start trying again. The doctor even told me I could have a glass of wine tonight if I wanted.
The u/s tech asked why we were back so soon and I explained the situation-low hcgs, spotting, cramping, small u/s measurements, miscarrying. She got her transvag ready and the second she put it in there, she said "YOU ARE VERY MUCH PREGNANT. THAT'S A BABY! THAT'S NOT A MISCARRIAGE". OMG.
We saw and heard the heartbeat. It was insane. We were expecting to see an empty sac or no sac (she said at that early sometimes it will just absorb back in) but instead we saw our little blob with a heartbeat of 124 and we could hear it. She said that no matter what my blood levels were showing or what my chart was saying, I am 6 weeks pregnant. At this point, I don't care if my chart doesn't agree with that number. I am going by that heartbeat. Maybe it will catch up to my chart later or maybe I really am off and my husband and I conceived on Friday and the hpt showed positive that Sunday-who knows. But like the tech said, I am very much pregnant, everything looks perfect for 6 weeks. She couldn't see any reason for the spotting so the doc said that it's common to spot and have cramps (still on pelvic rest and no running until 8 weeks).
So, I know there is a still chance of miscarriage but it was truly amazing to go from such a low to such a high in just a few hours. I hope my story brings hope to anyone who is measuring small or whose hcg numbers are not doubling or are on the lower end.
Today I am pregnant and I love my baby. I am going to keep saying that and quit googling!!

I had my first u/s last Friday and the tech was so confused by my long cycles that she tried telling me women are pregnant for 42 weeks, not 40. She said I was 4 wks 4 days based on my measurements so I asked her if that meant 4 wks 4 days from ovulation or from LMP? After asking her u/s boss and referring to her little wheel, she told me it meant I was 4 wks 4 days from ovulation (so 6 wks 4 days pregnant). Because she was so confused, I left the office feeling very unsettled and worried that things weren't okay.
This week on Tues, Wed, and today, I've had light pinkish brown spotting and mild cramps in the mornings. I finally called my doctor this morning and she said that she finally read the u/s and that they are measuring me at 4 wks 4 days, not 6 wks 4 days (geez, wouldn't it have been nice if she read that on Friday, after the test and maybe called me to tell me something was up??). Anyway, she said with the spotting, cramping and u/s measurements it could either be a slow grower and everything will be fine or the baby could have stopped growing at 4 wks 4 days and now the miscarriage is starting.
She is putting me on pelvic rest and told me not to exercise or do anything strenuous or stressful until I see her. She is having me come in tomorrow morning for a beta test and then I'm seeing her for an exam when the results come in. My pregnancy symptoms have decreased and since my u/s I have just had a bad feeling. My gut is telling me this won't end well.
Has anyone had a similar experience? What should I expect when/if I miscarry? How much pain?

We had a very similar situation happen to us two weeks ago...we thought it was over to only be surprised by a heartbeat.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am crying with tears of joy and hope that maybe my pregnancy gets better like yours. My betas haven't doubled and my first 2 u/s showed nothing but 2 days after that they saw a sac. My doctor says that if i don't bleed within the next 2 weeks and things don't look good on next u/s then we'll make plans for d&c or other options . I am praying that in 2 weeks I get an u/s and prove that doctor wrong. When i got my BFP I felt positive that this time I will have a healthy baby and It's hard but I keep convincing myself that it will happen.
Thanks again for sharing your story and when I pray for my healthy baby I will also ask for some sticky dust to be sent your way and to everyone else here. Ok getting too emotional now. lol

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I feel so supported by all of you and hope we all get to meet our little babies in May. I know we are never officially out of the clear until the baby is in our arms, but I am going to try to enjoy this as much as I can.
A friend of mine who had a mc said that when she got pregnant again, she put a wall up and wouldn't let herself get attached until after the first trimester. Now she has a four month old son and she says she regrets not bonding with him during those first few months (out of fear). We just never know what is in store for us so we have to take it one day at a time.
