WB isn't a moron. Even if you think B of A is evil, or failing, or any of the other things you said... it won't be for long.
hmmm, i would find this very compelling... if it seemed like you had read any of what you posted.
"But Mr. Buffett was critical of management at the time. He told
Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission that Bank of America paid a ?crazy
price? to acquire Merrill Lynch in the midst of the disaster. Mr.
Buffett sold off his remaining shares in Bank of America at the end of
2010."
but you know, if you'd like to know more, this is pretty damning:
"Since the merger, Countrywide has produced little but headaches for Bank of America.
The
bank agreed to an $8.5 billion settlement with a group of 22 big
mortgage investors. It also helped Countrywide?s founder, Angelo Mozilo,
settle charges that he?d added $141.7 million to his personal fortune
through fraud and insider trading. (Mozilo?s attorney called the charges
?baseless.? ) The final settlement was for $67.5 million, with Bank of
America and Countrywide?s insurers chipping in $45 million and Mozilo
paying $22.5 million ? or about 16 cents out of his own pocket for every
dollar authorities claimed he?d taken in ill-gotten personal gains.
The
bank also agree to pay $108 million to settle fraud charges against
Countrywide Home Loans Servicing, the same unit Foster says forced her
to stop highlighting its complaint data in her reports. The Federal
Trade Commission alleged that the servicing unit gouged homeowners with
illegal fees and misled them about how much they owed on their
mortgages.
Countrywide Home Loans Servicing now operates as BAC
Home Loans Servicing, but it continues to draw the ire of regulators for
its conduct under the Bank of America banner. A coalition of state
attorneys general and federal authorities are pressing Bank of America
and other big banks to pay $20 billion or more to settle claims
that they used so-called ?robosigners? to falsify foreclosure documents
and push homeowners out of their homes.
The Federal Housing
Finance Agency, which oversees mortgage investing giants Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac, has filed massive lawsuits charging that Countrywide, Bank
of America and other lenders misled Fannie and Freddie about the quality
of the loans they pooled into mortgage-backed securities."
Dude. They're all fvcking evil. I get it. You win.
Have a nice day, strange bird.
i am so sorry i interrupted your day with some news. this has been bstrangely, reporting live, on the subject daisyfull should never have opened her mouth about.

Ok, time out.
This is started with me saying I liked their customer service, and you calling me "nucking futs".
You seriously need a hobby, because debate is not your strong suit. The only area I mis-stepped in was saying Warren Buffet doesn't have a history of investing in failing companies. Clearly I was wrong, and I admitted it.
You're taking this waaaaay overboard. It's weird.

then stop. no one says you have to keep reading what i write or replying.
it bothers me that so many people are so ignorant about the companies they use and the country they live in. it really is my pet peeve. no one made you post the first article you goggled without reading it.
it is not weird to take people seriously when they express their political views. it's kind of the point of discussion. maybe you're used to just ignoring what other people believe, but it is not my style. it's just too scary when people like bachmann and perry are running for office as serious candidates.

You're a nut.
Now I'm ignorant? Get over yourself. If you think you know everything about EVERY company you do business with... that's laughable.
You yourself admitted you use B of A.
So where does that leave us? Get off your high horse, because you're starting to sound like a fvcking idiot.

I like BoA customer service. I dont agree with everything they do or how they run the business, but we have done well enough using their mistakes against them in getting a lower finance rate.
WB doesn't bail out all failing businesses. He invests when it is cheaper to do so, but only if he thinks that he will get a decent ROI. He wouldn't have put that kinda money in if he knew there was a good probability of losing it. He did not make millions being that ignorant.

uh, yeah. i never said i did. i also said i argued with my dh about boa all the time. what, i'm just supposed to move all our money without telling him?
i am so sorry that someone on the internet made you look stupid.
See, there is a secret to get to their american-based call center.
When you get to the menu, press whatever number for spanish speakers. press '0' or just wait to get to an operator. When they say "Hola!", just say "I'm sorry, I must have messed up and I don't speak spanish. But can you help me anyways?" They will because they are biligual, based here in good 'ol US of A, and most likely english is their first language.
I do this all the time with my cell phone carrier and it works 100% of the time.
YWIA!
eta: Or you can switch to USAA. USAA beat's BoA's asss anyday of the mothereffin' week.
This is literally the best thing I've ever heard on TB. Thanks.
I agree! I'm trying this with EVERY CS call from now on. Cable companies and cell phone companies are awful in terms of outsourced people too! I was calling the cable company one time and the dude from another country kept asking me if I had a cable outlet in my wall. Ummmmm, yes sir, I do....how the hell else would I have cable?! That had to be some kind of language barrier. I just wanted to throw my phone through the wall!

Holy sh!t. A voice of reason.
I knew I liked you for a reason. It's a sad day when I get my blood pressure up about something like this.

You're over-emotional. Go put on a Depeche Mode cd and have a breather.

One more time - in case you didn't get enough of it - I. Didn't. Read. That. Article.

I admit when I make a mistake, B.
You took this conversation from "I like customer service" to painting me as being pro-mortgage fraud, ignorant about companies I do business with and stupid? Get a grip, stretch Armstrong.

I closed my account at BoA back when I lived in Jersey City, NJ. They couldn't speak English at my branch very well because they catered to the mostly hispanic population. I thought this was obnoxious, given that we are in the US of A so I closed it out of principle.
I then closed down accounts with Wells Fargo because they sucked too.
I'm now only using a credit union that I grandfathered into thorugh my father in law. I love it.
