My mom bought me this book called, "A Child is Born." I was looking at it the other day, and there is this chart on your chances of conception around ovulation. I hadn't seen this view before, but it may be true. We FWP the AM after O, and I some times wonder if that's what did it for us. Here's what it says:
Your chances of conception:
3 days before O = 0%
2 days before O = 11%
1 day before O = 15%
O day = 20%
1 day after O = 26%
2 days after O = 15%
So, ladies, it just might be worth getting more one in (in the AM when sperm count is higher) the morning after O. And maybe even two days after.
Happy FWP!!

The same book says, "Fertilization takes place in the fallopian tube, but it makes no difference whether the sperm or the egg gets there first. When the woman ovulates, sperm may be lying in wait in the folds of the mucous membrane lining of the tube, where they can survive for several days. An egg is more sensitive: once it's in the tube the sperm have to appear - and fertilization must take place - within 48 hours if there is to be a viable chance of pregnancy."
If you think about it, in the 3 days before the sperm are slowly dying off. If your egg is making its way down the tube after O day, and you FWP, there are more fresh sperm traveling to their mission.
Who knows? I'm definitely no expert. Just thought I would share.
Interesting. There is so much different info. out there though.
The book I have says that you have a 5% chance five days before O and a 30% chance two days before O.
This is all so confusing. It seems everywhere I look I see a different answer!
I read the other day that couples that have sex 3 times a week/every week regardless of when they are O'ing have better chances at conceiving. ????
THis is very interesting. I also just read an article that cited when the fertilized egg implants also has bearing on how long you will stay pregnant. Who knew??
Heres the link if you are interested.
