Whats in your baby medicine cabinet?

We're trying to figure out what else we need. I wandered the medicine aisle at BRU, but wasn't sure if infants should be given ibuprofen vs acetaminophen, etc.

 Right now we have:

thermometer

gas drops

nail clippers

What do you have?

  • For DD all we used was gas drops for several months. I think the first time we had to give her Tylenol was after her 4 month shots. Also, people swear by gripe water and I will try it again but it always made DD projectile vomit after we gave it to her. It did get rid of hiccups like a freaky party trick though.

alcohol will actually really dry it out, they rec. now that you just keep it clean with water and just sponge baths for LO until it is healed.

  • Pretty much whatever one else said. Also, I don't think you're supposed to give infants Ibuprofen until after 6 months. You might want to double-check that. We gave DS tylenol until he was about 10 mos old and then we switched (when we ran out).

Oh, and Lotrimin AF for yeast-related rashes...has come in handy more than a few times.

You'll probably have no need to get this but we had to get a prescription cortizone for DS's baby acne which was really bad (and you can't use regular cortizone, it's too strong for infants). That stuff is gold for clearing up any minor skin irritations. Before our prescription expired, we made sure to get an extra tube because it's been so useful.
