Crib question....

Question: Andrew is 15 days old and will not sleep in his crib at all. Unless it is during a nap during the day. At night he only wants to sleep in his little Boppy swing. Does anyone else's LO not like their crib? And what can I do to help him adjust to his crib? He slept in it for the first two days we were home and then quit. Any suggestions?

    Perhaps he likes the incline. They make wedges that you can use to incline a crib mattress, maybe that would help.

    I could have swore they made an insert for the crib but my mom and sister's and DH all thought I was insane. They had never heard of it. Do you know where I could find one for cheap? I need to try this because I am running through batteries like crazy with this swing going all the time...lol. But I look at it this way...if he is happy it doesn't matter how much batteries cost. Can't put a price on his happiness or my sanity...lol

    Fold a blanket or a few towels and put them underneath one end of his mattress. This is also helpful when LOs get sick and congested when laying flat.

    Check out the Babies: 0-3 months board for some ideas. I am also having issues getting Rylee to sleep in her bassinet. Could be because it's too flat, could be that she is just not a back sleeper... Whatever the case... I know the first few weeks are all about survival... So do what you need to do... Even if you have to go through a case of batteries. ;-) Good luck!

    DS wouldn't nap in his crib until he was almost 4 months old.  I spent a lot of time trying to make him and he just was happiest to nap in his swing.  My BTDT advice: don't worry about it at this point, just relax and enjoy your new baby and the naps will sort themselves out later on.

    he's already 2 weeks old?? my goodness! time flies!! you said you're going through batteries like crazy-maybe the problem isn't the lack of incline in the crib, but the movement??try to get him to sleep without the swinging?

    we've only had sam in the bassinet so far, but have you tried swaddling? sam could be in the worst mood, but all is right in the world when he's swaddled. we like to use the swaddlemes.

    DH freaks out if I swaddle him in his crib because chunky monkey is an escape artist. So DH thinks he will un-swaddle himself and then smother himself with the blanket...lol. I did try the no swinging motion last night and he fed at midnight and didn't wake up again until 5 a.m.! Then woke up again at 9! But he still isn't comfortable with the crib. So I am thinking that either it is the incline thing or that maybe the crib is too big for him right now. Either way...he sleeps 4 hours or so at a time at night...and I am okay with that. So if the swing is what he wants to sleep in then so be it :) We will work on sleeping in the crib when he gets a little older.

    aleksmar- he will be 3 weeks old on the 28th! I can't believe it. He will be 3 weeks and 1 day old on my due date! (September 29th). It is hard to believe that he is that old already! :(
