Upstate NY Babies

anyone thinking of Christmas yet?

I've picked up clearance toys here and there for Ethan and just wrote out what I bought him and realized I am done.  I don't want to go crazy this year since he doesn't need 10,000 toys.  I have 1 thing for Sophia.  I'll still have to shop for her and my neices.  Plus I really want to go away again next year if dh gets a job so I want nothing for me . I would rather have memories with the kids than dh waste money just to put a present under the tree.

  • yes. thought only because i have no idea what to buy M. DH wants to get him a piano, i want to get him the step two tool bench, we did decide on ice skates (and a hockey helmet) but i don't like any of the toys i see for his age

  • we got ethan a soft baseball bat and glove, 3 little people cars with people in them, markers, crayons, another peice to the chuck playyard, some dinosaurs.  we will buy him cars 2. I asked my sister for a soccer ball.  we picked up some books for my mom when borders was going out of buisness.
  • Yes and no. I'm try to watch the things DD shows an interest in when we are other places so that I'll have ideas.  Right now I'm thinking toy kitchen or a doll.

  • I have been thinking about it a lot the last few weeks, even started a board on pinterest with ideas. I haven't picked anything up yet since her birthday party is Saturday. Plus we are planning on picking up some stuff while we are in Disney. We weren't able to buy much for Christmas the last couple of years, last year being the worst. So this year we plan on having a really nice Christmas with more then just a couple gifts under the tree this year.

On our list is an Easel, a crib for her AG baby doll she is getting for her birthday, Leapfrog Tag JR, Rapunzel toddler doll, and she really liked the Go Go puppy at Target last week so now I threw that on the list as well. Plus supplies to go with the easel, books to go with the Tag Jr, and anything we get in Disney or that find between now and Christmas.

  • Thinking...yes.  Buying...no.  I really should though.  I get so stressed out around Christmas!!  I should start my shopping early.  Justin has been looking through the toy magazines though so hopefully he'll give me some ideas.

My coworker gave us her daughters old kitchen and Belle adores it. She is always making us stuff or getting us a glass of water. She could play for hours with it.

  • Yup! I already about my SIL's and my sisters gift. I like starting early.

Presents wise I don't feel like kids need to have a pile of gifts under the tree. Even if your not religious, no one day should be about getting a bunch of stuff. My parents always did one "bigger" gift for each kid and we got some smaller items. But then grandma and grandpa got us gifts, nana got us gifts and for awhile our aunts and uncles got us gifts. That is a lot of stuff! Even with just one gift per person. Phew!

  • I bought a few things out of the Target $1 bins yesterday (some plastic animals & 2 firefighter helmets) but that's about it. I want to sit down soon & make a list of things I can make & start crafting!

  • Oh and Charlie really really wants to play hockey, so if we decide he is going to that will probably be the majority of his gift. I think we are buying him new (or used if I can find them!) skates for his birthday since he outgrew his old ones.

Paul needs a "big boy" bed (*sniff*) so we may just use that as his big gift & get them some smaller stuff.

  • If I start shopping early I end up buying twice as much stuff. So I usually just go out with a list when DH gets his bonus a few weeks before Christmas. We finally started a "kids only" thing with DH's family, thank God. So I have 12 neices and nephews to buy for, along with our parents.

I think we're going to do a big wooden dollhouse for Leah and a train table for Evan (both would be a combo b-day/christmas gift)
