Another flu shot question

Just called DD's doc about getting her in-they said for her age (2yrs) that they have the shot or the flu mist....anyone have experience with the mist at all? Just wondering which would be best for her to get at this age. Thanks!

    My DD gets the flu mist.  They tell you they can have it as long as they can follow the directions to sniff.  Although this year, my DD was crying (even though I told her repeatedly it was not a shot), so the nurse just did it sort of unexpectedly.  I think I've heard it can be more effective than the shot?  But I can't remember where or when I heard that..

    BTW it does not contain thimerosol or other preservatives, so that is important for me.  I know sometimes early in the season they have preservative-free shots, but they tend to run out fast.

    The mist is live though.  So if she is around babies at daycare or anyone immunocompromised you would not want her to have it for their protection.

    How long would you want her away from them? She goes to daycare Monday (I was going to take her tomorrow)-the youngest kid is around 18mos old....no infants.

    No, she is fine then to go Monday.
