Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Bed time getting earlier?

We always start our bedtime routine when J starts getting fussy. That used to be between 7-7:30...then it moved up to 6:30-7 at two months and now it seems to be more like 6-6:30.

Is this normal? Anyone else going through it?

  • I am right there with you. We usually start the bedtime around 7:30 - medicine (for reflux), bath, story, eat, asleep around 8:15. Well, DS has been sound asleep on my shoulder since 7:15 and I haven't even given him his medicine yet. Ugh.

  • Yep. A month ago he was going down around 9. Tonight he went down at 7:35.

  • Totally normal.  My 4 month old has started 6:15 this past week.

  • This happened with both of my girls - they gradually moved their own bedtimes up.  Their bedtime is still kinda late (between 8-8:30) but far earlier compared to their original 10-11 pm bedtimes when they were just a month or two old.
  • This happened with us, too.  She used to be asleep around 9, but if I don't start her bath and her bedtime routine by 6:30, she is a basket case.  She's usually in bed by 7:15, and I think she'd go down earlier if I'd let her.

  • Yep. I was just thinking last night that I might need to move his bedtime up earlier than 7:30 b/c he's already getting too fussy by then and it used to be 8pm just a few weeks ago.
