1st Trimester

Tylenol PM?

I know there is a very limited list of things we can take during pregnancy for any kind of illness etc, but I have just been diagnosed with a double ear infection AND an Upper Respiratory Infection.  I have not slept a solid night's sleep in over a week, and cannot stop coughing.  I was told by the Minute Clinic that Tylenol MIGHT be ok, but she wasn't sure if it was during my first trimester.  My OB never called back either to tell me if it was ok or not... Can anyone attest to this?  What else can I do to get some relief while I wait for my antibiotic to kick in?

Re: Tylenol PM?

  • Yes you can take Tylenol PM. I took it quiet often during my pregnancy with DD as I had really bad headaches that would keep me up at night.

  • My doctor has it on the "safe for all trimesters" list.

  • tylenol pm is fine...just got the list of allowed meds today from the Dr
  • Also, if you really don't need the pain reliever you can take a benadryl. It's the PM part of tylenol PM, and my doc suggested it when I was having trouble sleeping towards the end of my last pregnancy.

  • Tylenol and Tylenol PM were on the list of safe meds my OB gave me.  Just don't take more than the recommended dose.
