Trying to Get Pregnant

NGPR cooking question.

B/C I can't get a hold of my mom, and I don't trust google becaue every answer is different.

If I take chiken directly from the freezer, at what temp and how long should I bake it??? TIA.

Re: NGPR cooking question.

  • i wouldn't. i'd defrost first. use your mic's self defrost function and keep an eye on it so it doesn't get cooked on the edges.

  • I have some chicken breasts that I buy frozen sometimes, and I believe I end up cooking them at 375 for about 40 minutes, until the juices run clear. Mine are pretty big pieces too.
  • agree with mrsmel.  I wouldn't bake frozen chicken.  Either pull it out of the freezer and let it thaw (depending on how much chicken and cut it might not take that long) - or use the microwave.

  • Wow I have never baked frozen chicken so I'm no help there.  I would honestly take the 7 minutes or so to defrost it before hand!

  • Thanks guys. I totally forgot about my micro's defrost option. Its been a long time since I froze meat, and forgot to thaw it before work. :)
  • If you cook it thoroughly it's okay. I've made shake and bake chicken this way for my chicken caesar salad wraps and salads since I was in high school.

  • I do it all the time, the meat is actually more moist than if you defrost it.  If it is completely frozen 375 for 1.5 hours or until the juices run clear.  Check at the thigh joint to be sure.

  • I second baking it at 375 for 45ish minutes from frozen. ?And if you put it in a foil envelope (a la Jamie Oliver, yum) it will be super moist! ?Or you could go halfway and defrost it a little bit, but not totally, and put it in for 30 minutes. ?I don't like defrosting all the way because the edges ALWAYS seem to start cooking while the middle remains solid as a rock. ?Maybe my microwave just sucks.
  • Interesting. I was taught to defrost it first, too. If I need to defrost something quick, I put it in some warm water - I find the microwave makes chicken rubbery.?
  • wait I need clarification is it a whole chicken or breasts.  Whole =1.5 hours

    breasts=40 mins or so.

    You should never defrost in warm water, bacteria can grow.  If you use water, use cold.
