Car Seat "Blanket"

Does anyone have one of the car seat "blankets" that attach to the handle and cover the car seat while you're transporting baby in/out of places in the cool weather, or to guard from wandering hands and faces when you're out in public and baby is sleeping in their seat?

I'm wondering where the best place to get these would be as i'm so not sewing inclined :-(

ETA: I don't mean something like the JJ Cole Bundle Me, it's more like a blanket draped over the handle, and more to keep the elements from them while walking in/out of places than keeping them warm in the car. My post might be confusing, sorry. :-)

Re: Car Seat "Blanket"

  • So funny you ask!  I just saw these for the first time this weekend.  A friend of a friend of a friend makes them:

  • Grrr! That's exactly what i'm looking for, but way more than i'm willing to pay. I'd rather just throw an actual blanket over for that price lol.

It's times like these I really wish I knew how to sew. I bet that someone who knows their way around a sewing machine could whip that puppy up in 10 minutes or less!

  • My mom is getting us the JJ Cole Bundle Me.  I will probably only use it when we're walking around outside, as I've seen mixed reviews as to whether or not you should use it in the car.  Most of what I've read says it isn't safe.

Plus, it isn't SO cold here (Atlanta) that the car will be that cold coming out of the garage.  I almost worry she'll be too hot in the car.

What i'm talking about is in the link right above and it's something that actually covers baby completely (like if you tossed a blanket over the handle) and you just flip it down when you're walking in to a store (to keep cold/wind from babies face) or if baby falls asleep in the store and you want to keep it dark and cozy for them. The bundle me is just for warmth while they're in the car seat. The "blanket" i'm talking about is really lightweight and attached to the handle. KWIM?

oh yeah, I don't think they're ever meant for in the car.  Just transporting back and forth to block the sun, block old lady's hands, block the wind, that kind of thing.

  • I bought one at walmart for my god daughter.

  • Look on etsy. I've seen them a little cheaper on there (than the link above). Also, I'm not sewing inclined at all but I did manage to make one of these. Not hard at all! I've had a lot of friends tell me how much they love this type of cover for the reasons you mentioned above.

You'd be surprised at the number of reviews I've read from people who use them in the car and claim they're perfectly safe.  No judgment, but I'm not taking that risk

Did you use a sewing machine? I don't have one.....

  • I have a bundle me that I used with both my other kids but I am thinking I will go the route of just an elastic cover with face hole for this one.

I have my eye on this one...

  • I did use a sewing maching but I think you could hand stitch some cute fabric ribbon to a blanket to to tie to the handle of the carseat. That might work too and it wouldn't be too much work to do.

I've also seen them at my local costco at one of those little booths they set up on the end of the isles. You could call and check there as well.

M - is this like what you're looking for?  https://jjcolecollections.com/car-seat-canopy
