Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Make the screaming stop!

How in the heck do you get a 1 year old to stop screaming at the top of her lungs? She does it over anything. When her bottle is empty, when she wants you to pay attention to her, whn you are two feet away and she does it for no reason...She does it all the time and its driving us crazy. Its also probably going to make the new baby deaf! Please any advice would be great because we don't know how to handle this. We try shhhhh and holding the finger to the mouth but she basically laughs at us and screams more!!!!!!!!

  • Have you tried ignoring it? She might stop if she's not getting a reaction.

  • I actually posted this same question on here yesterday! We're dealing with the same thing. It gets really frustrating. :(

  • DD just likes to hear herself scream!  I always respond in a lowered voice. For instance when she wants more food and screams NINE NINE NINE! I say in a very low voice, "Would you like some more?" And she will say "mmmmaaa" much lower. She tends to modulate her voice to match my tone. It has taken a while though...and she still does scream, especially if I don't respond IMMEDIATELY!  LOL!

LMAO ignoring her makes it worse....She's just got a big personality and hopefully I can figure this one out before we all go insane, or deaf.
