Bigger bath tub/ too much fun at bathtime?

We are currently using this https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2403667 tub for baths.  My eight week old is already 24 inches and loves to fail her arms and legs with reckless abandon in the tub and her legs keep kicking into the end of the tub. Does anyone know of a tub that is really large but still has some sort of seat appropriate for a baby that can't sit up on her own?

Also, we have been trying to do a bath as part of her bedtime routine but I am worried that we only end up riling her up right before bed.  When we get her out and put her on her towel on the floor to dry off she just keeps kicking like crazy with a determined look on her face.  Is this kind of excitement fairly regular or are other babies more relaxed in the tub so it makes more sense to have the bath right before bed?

Thanks!!!

  • I think I answered my first question!  If anyone else is having the same problem, this is what I found.   https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000056OV0/ref=ox_ya_os_product

  • We do not give baths before bed because LO is a wild man.  He screams like a maniac (excited screeches), kicks like crazy, etc.  Far too stimulating for before bed.  Plus, he gets crestfallen when we take him out of the tub and cries his little heart out. Since I am a SAHM I give him baths during the day.  When I get a job (which I hope is soon) we will bathe him right when he gets home from daycare so he has time to chill out.

  • Thanks for posting this! ds also loves bathtime and i usually end up soaking wet thanks to his enthusiasm. i'm going to have to check out that link for the other tub. also, we give ds a bath in the morning or during the day. before bed doesnt work for us either...he's to excited  (sorry for the formatting....on my phone)
  • I LOVE the fisher price whale tub. I feel like it's a good size, but my LO is only about 22 inches. The bump is perfect to help him sit, and you can remove it when he gets bigger. I have never had to support him while sitting in it since daybone. It frees up both hands for washing. He loves his bath, and I give him one every morning or afternoon. He gets upset when I take home out. I avoid bath time before bedtime or nap time.
  • I have the PRI Euro bath linked to above. At first I thought it was HUGE (we had it on our amazon registry b/c of the good reviews but hadn't checked it out in real life) and when someone purchased it I thought maybe we should exchange it. But since LO was born, I am happy with it. It fits perfectly inside of our bath tub making it easy to fill and empty. Also, LO loves it! I can fill it with a good amount of water keeping her warm and also keeping her head above water. The way it is designed once she is bigger and sitting up she can use the other end of the tub to help sit up.

My LO also has a tons of fun and cries when we get her out but by the time I get her dried, jammies on and get settled in the chair to BF, she eats and then goes right to bed.
