Pregnant women should never have to go to the DMV

Today was an errand day for me, which I was dreading to being with. I prepared to go get a new license made and I did my research. It said they accept credit card and they wanted a piece of mail. So today, I grabbed a piece of mail, my debit card and trudged to the DMV.

After waiting in line, I got to the front of the line and hand the woman my information. Apparently, in my pregnancy induced stupidity, I had grabbed an envelope with my old address, which did not work at all. I felt very silly and figured I would have something in my car that would work. So I went back out to my car and found the appropriate mail. I get to the lady again, and she starts the paperwork when I see a sign that says we accept credit cards, except Visa.

WTF? Who doesn't accept Visa?

So after a pissed off trip to the ATM down the road, a driving test, and an eye test, I now have my new license.

The whole thing made me about hysterical because I was already tired and getting all of this done required 3 trips to the bathroom to pee.

Gargh. Rant Over and sorry for the length :)

Re: Pregnant women should never have to go to the DMV

  • I have learned to go to the DMV on a Wed. never a Friday. Never before or after a holiday either. Also next time see if you can print the form online to do the paperwork. It saves you so much more time.

  • Your post makes me so glad that my driver's license will last until I'm 65. It will say I'm under 18 until I'm 65. It's awesome. Yay for Arizona licenses!

  • Interesting fact I was not aware of, at least at Illinois DMVs ... if you are pregnant, you should tell them and they will give you a special ticket that makes them serve you faster. I wish I had known that before sitting in an uncomfortable chair for an hour and literally being the absolute last person served for the day when I got my license renewed last weekend. When I finally got up to the counter the guy said "Oh! You're pregnant! You should have been up here a long time ago, why didn't they give you a D ticket?" My only response at that point was : Indifferent

Sorry you had such a bad experience.

  • Glad I read this story, I have to get my license changed next month since we're moving. I still have an address from like 3 apartments ago on my license. I wasn't aware I had 30 days to change it or I could get a ticket. Oops :P
