February 2012 Moms

What do you say when people ask how far along you are?

I round off the days. For examply, if someone were to ask me today how far along I am, I would tell them 17 weeks. I figure the average joe doesn't really care exactly how many days pregnant I am.

What do you do?

  • I saw it in weeks but then they usually ask how many months is that.

  • I hate when people ask in months! I can't do math in my head.

  • I'm always like, "18 weeks..um...uh...four months..ish." :-P

But NOW, I've decided to say "About halfway!"

  • I round off too...I am saying 17 weeks right now.  A father at my school tried to ask me how many months that was yesterday....I had no idea.  I will be 4 months Sept 25th I guess - but I like counting in weeks.

  • I just tell them my due date.  Nobody really cares how many weeks it is, and I find if I say I'm 18 weeks the next question will be, so that means you're due when?  I just save them a step.  :)

  • If it's another mom or one of my husband's coworkers (he's a doctor), I tell them in weeks. If it's anyone else, I round to the nearest month.

  • It depends on who asks :)

If it is someone who does not have kids, then I use months.  If it is someone who has kids I am likely to use weeks.

  • I started telling them "Halfway."  I was "about halfway" for two weeks.  I'm sure I'll switch to "A bit over halfway."  LOL  Then maybe I'll remember months.  I am not figuring out months for ya, people!  LOL

Same here! "Oh, we're due in February, so we're just about half-way through."

Me too! And then I follow up with "due in Feb."
  • I round up :)  So right now I'd say I'm in my 18th week... which isn't untrue.  Then I say I'm due in February.

  • I mix it up, sometimes I say months and sometimes I say weeks! I am big for only 17 weeks so I hate when people ask because they always say "wow" or are you sure you arent further along? " your going to get huge!" ect.

  • I do the same thing. My week change is on Sunday and I start saying the next week from Friday. I hadn't noticed I did that until you posted this.

Certain people, like my BFF's mom who would love to know, I give a little more detail like "I'll be 17 weeks on Sunday" or something similar. Half the time I don't know what day it is so I don't remember how many days I am.

    This, exactly!

  • I just say what week I'm on (I don't round up -- mostly b/c I'm not showing) and then add "I'm due at the very end of Feb."

  • If they really care, I'll tell them in weeks, but if they're just asking to be nice (like a stranger or work acquaintance) I'll tell them in months.

  • I always go by weeks but I don't round. For example I will be telling people 16 weeks until I enter my 17th week.

  • I round up too.  Someone at work just asked me yesterday and I said, "19 weeks on Saturday".
