The UO post made me curious and I love to hear about doggies!
I have a shih tzu (I call her my little sh!tty). I always had big dogs growing up but I'm actually allergic to dogs and once I was out of my moms for a year with no dog my immunity that had built up was gone! I suffer everytime I go to her house with the dogs.
DH wanted a rotty, a Pitt, or a boxer. But my allergies won and we got a hypoallergenic furball who doesn't shed. She is the cutest munchkin and LOVES DD to bits!
Tell me about your furbabies!
Re: What kind of dog do you have?
Redbone hounds.
Scout is a humongous beast. She's so strong that when she was a puppy, we had to amputate her tail because she developed "Happy Tail Syndrome"--meaning she wagged her tail so hard and so often that it got beat to a pulp and couldn't heal. The walls of our entry were splattered with so much blood we had to repaint.
Katie Sue is a rescue and she's the sweetest dog ever. Her nickname is Bird because she likes to build nests and curl up in them with her nose tucked under her "wing." She's my BFF.
They both like to howl and bay a LOT.

We had a CBR growing up. He was the only dog we ever owned who just swam for pleasure. He would swim back and forth in our creek for HOURS. It was hilarious.
We have a Boston Terrier puppy named Mack. I LOVE Bostons; they're just a great-tempered dog.
We had a boston last year and unfortunately we had to have him put down when I was 36 weeks pregnant, which was devestating. We brought home our old dog's nephew in March when Logan was 6.5 months old. It was a lot of work, but so worth it to watch how much of buddies they've become!
Wrigley is half Golden retriever, half Basset/Springer/Lab mix.We got him from a rescue- his litter had blonde puppies, black puppies, black/white puppies and our tri-color boy.
He looks like a shorter Golden retriever with basset coloring. And spots. A lot of spots.
We have an 8 y/o mix, Buster, & a 4 y/o Tsang Apso (Tibetan Terrier), Daisy.
They are the sweetest cuddlers, and are total bffs. They insist on being a part of bath time

I love those dogs!
We have an english bulldog named Charlie! He;s a big suck!
We have one miniature poodle, Macy, and one mutt (like a puggle, only heavier), Willy.
They are great dogs and great with DD.
ETA: sorry, I went on and on way too long so I took most of it out. Here's a picture of Megan giving them kisses through the glass on our back door.
I love him! My granddaddy always had a german shepherd when I was growing up. They were the best dogs we ever had. I would love to have one now!
Your son is adorable too. LOL
my read shelf:
We have a Shiba Inu named Layla. Looks like an Akita (with a curly pig tail?), but smaller, she is only about 20lbs.
She shares her toys with Z.
We have a lab/blue heeler mix named Ally. She's a great dog, but a PITA. Her and my 3 cats work together to destroy my house.
::example:: Yesterday while at work, my cats opened the treat cabinet, knocked all 5 bags of treats on the floor, then Ally ripped them to shreads all over my living room
Your husband must be in law enforcement, right? My brother in law used to have a dog just like that when he was part of the K9 unit.
my read shelf:
Henry is a mix of Golden Retriever and (we think) Border Collie. I got him from the Humane Society as a stray, and that was their best guess. He's AWESOME and Max loves him.
We have a 5yo rat terrier (Saydee) and a 4yo miniature long-haired dachsund (Sophie). Saydee stays away from Landon. I think he scares her. Sophie will let Landon waller all over her. Both Sophie hates Saydee and that makes for a bad dynamic in the house. Both are house dogs, but we have to trade them in and out to keep them from fighting. They are crated at night and when we are gone.
BTW it wasn't always like this. They used to get along great until about 1 year ago. We have seriously considered rehoming one of them because of the constant struggle.

Jack is our mutt. we have no clue whatsoever what breeds he is. but he is the most amazing dog. he was dropped off at my honeys moms house (she lives 8 miles outta town). he came with tricks and is such an amazing companion. he lets coralie climb all over him and do whatever she wants. lol i however try my hardest to keep her nice.
Missy was our fluke. we always get our pets from the humane society or my honeys mom if a dog is dropped off in the country again. anyways...she our pure bred instead of a mutt. a long haired miniature doxie that i got for valentines day a year before coralie was born. missy is so great. doesnt bark, taught herself tricks, and will back me and my honey up at any point of wrestling around. my favorite thing about my dogs is how awesome they are with coralie. no one can hold her or play with her without my dogs there ready for anything. my dogs are my babies too!
Cheeba-Weeba-the-fleabocka, this is the strangest dog in the world I am convinced!
DH and I think she needs therapy, you can pet her for 2 hours and she will still nudge you for more when you stop. She jumps insanely high, has a very meaty bark, she loves our kitten and thinks it is her baby. She is a brindle pit/american bulldog mix, she is tall and lanky. She also adores her Makaia, she is very aware of DD's where abouts and lays in front of her on the bed, they are besties.

We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel too.
His name is Freddy and he's a bark-a-holic
That's one amazing mix. Beautiful dog!
Yes, he's a police officer and is K9. He LOVES it. Jimmy mostly does bomb detection but is being trained for "man" work.
The Nest/Bump sucks and won't let me change my location. I'm in Arkansas, not Florida.
