I've seen different lists mention bringing your own bath towels because hospital towels are little and crappy. I can imagine wanting as much comfort as possible after L&D, but I don't want to completely over-pack. What are you all doing?

Re: Did you/will you bring towels to the hospital with you?
I'm not. If they are that bad, we live 5 minutes from the hospital and so do my parents, so someone can bring me some if I want them.

this. NO. i can't even remember what their towel was like that is how insignificant it was. plus, i wouldn't want to bleed on my own towels.
I am confused by this.. don't your rooms have bathrooms? At my hospital the rooms are set up like hotel rooms with a pretty large private bath/whirlpool tubs. I would hang my towel over the towel rod, as I would do with the hospital towels. What do you plan to do with the hospital towel? I am not being snarky, I am honestly confused.
Totally this. I don't want to have to worry about taking a bloody towel home. I'd much rather ruin theirs.
yes, it is set up like a hotel with towels, but i don't remember if the towels were hard/soft/too small or whatever!! the nurse tells you where to put the wet dirty towels so that when they come in to clean the bathroom they take them away. i wouldn't want to worry about my own towels there.
You do bleed quite a lot in the hospital and during my first shower it looked like a murder scene in there, lol. The towel would get ruined.
it is just one more thing to keep track of, IMO. I didn't use 1/2 of the things I brought.
the first time i got up to pee and the first shower--both looked like a murder scene!! they asked when i was going to shower so they could come in and clean it after--thank god, it was so freaking nasty.
Exactly.
Awesome. Maybe my wife will use my soft, bright, extra large beach towel. Can you tell I have a) never stayed a night in a hospital and b) never given birth?
I spent 36 hours in the hospital a few weeks ago. I took a shower using the hospital supplied towels, body wash, etc... The towel was small (I couldn't wrap it around my pregnant self) and like sandpaper. So yes, I am taking one of my own. I have a dark chocolate brown one that will not show blood when used. It's already packed.
I will also be taking throw-away flip-flops (because the shower was pretty scary in all honesty) and my own soap and shampoo. I really don't want to be in the hospital at all so I am hoping that I can make myself as comfortable as possible.
I forgot to mention this. When I was in the hospital, I had access to 4 pillows from 2 beds. They all SUCKED. I had MH bring mine from home when he came up. Seriously, bring a pillow.
i brought my own with DD, and was planning on doing it again--then i read on here where someone brought home bed bugs with their pillow....::gag::. so now i am debating not bringing one or just getting one for the hospital and then throw it away.
all of this.

You could buy a pillow protector. They make them for allergens and bed bugs. I may do the same.
No I wont bring my own. Its not that great at the hospital but the last thing that I want is more laundry when I get home. I am fine with the little ones.
