Cloth Diapering

Diaper rash cream and cloth diapers

I am very new to cloth diapering and my little guy is having his bout with a red butt. I purchased a cloth diaper safe cream, Weleda's diaper cream, and used it for the first time. I washed the diaper and it had some staining on it. Is this supposed to happen? Should I be using a liner with this cream? I have him in a disposable with Desitin right now because I didn't want to ruin all of my cloth diapers. Thank you!

Re: Diaper rash cream and cloth diapers

  • Is that diaper still absorbent, or is it now repelling liquid?

I use CJ's BUTTer with cloth dipes and haven't had a problem. At night or before a car trip I'll use Bourdeaux's butt paste or this homemade cream made with Aquaphor & Maalox, then use a fleece liner.

  • I use California Baby- it won't stain the cloth diapers. :)
