Girl clothes are not that much cuter....

So we just found out we are having a girl!!!! YAY! Everyone keeps saying that I will have so much fun picking out all the really cute girl clothes. So I have to say I disagree. I have a 3 year son and I could spend my entire paycheck on clothes for him. Boy stuff is so cool, cute and I love it. I'm having a hard time finding girl clothes I like for this LO. Trust me I am as girlie as the next girl, but I just don't like the idea of having my daughter covered in pink butterflies with ruffles and hearts too. Maybe I'll feel differently when I see her. Does anyone have any good stores or websites for girl clothes????

PS...not trying to offend any of the pink butterfly lovers....to each their own.

I would say stick with Gymboree, Old Navy and Childrens Place...their clothes are more mature looking, but still cute, neat color combinations! I don't go for all of the ruffly, frilly stuff either, its just not practical...cute for church but not everyday.

I also dress DD in more casual, basic clothes. Although she does get dressed up in a tutu skirt on the rare occasion.

Old Navy, Carter's and Children's Place have cute basic stuff. Also try Target. I love shopping there.

I'm a Gymboree fan. My 8 year old DD is too old now, but her birth - 7 years was nearly 90% from Gymboree... LOVE it. Now she's all about Justice.

I have to agree with you! I have a 4yo son, and when I go into a children's clothes store, girls' clothes don't even catch my eyes, even though they take up so much space in the store! I am girly enough to love to wear cute dresses and skirts, and I put make up on everyday.

I don't know what we are having this time around yet, but let me know if you find a good store!

I have one of each and I do enjoy buying both kinds of clothes but the holiday/dress up clothes are so limited for boys. DS is almost 4 and I am just done with sweater vest combos. DD is always more fun to shop for when it comes to holiday dresses.

Depends on your budget- buuuut I"m not in to really any baby-baby clothes either.

We stick to Zara Baby, Baby Gap, H&M and AEkids.

They all have super cute girls clothes. I would wear my daughters Zara clothes any day!

I am the same way. I usually stick to Carter's or Old Navy for my DD.

Carter's usually has a lot of very modern color combos (like pink/brown or purple/brown) - I think the combos are cute. Sure you are going to run into flowers and butterflies but I dont think Carter's is overly obnoxious on the "girlie" aspect.

Plus they are reasonably priced and their lines are very mix & matchable which I love!

I HATED the whole pink butterfly, butt-ruffle thing, too. Until I had DD.

It really is so much fun to dress her, they have some adorable stuff! I am actually having a hard time finding boy stuff that's cute! It's all just plaid shirts and baseballs.... booooooo..... I think whatever you have first you gravitate toward. Try Gymboree, Old Navy, SOMEtimes Carters. I get a lot of stuff for DD a these places.

I adore Gymboree. They have the pink stuff and the butterflies, and kitties and what not, but lots of other stuff too (safari, islands, etc.), and the butterflies and kitties are really done in a cute way. I hit the outlet about once or twice a year and go crazy with coordinating pieces and matching hair bows, and collect the Gymboree bucks to save money at the regular store. It's pretty good quality, too, and washes well. I think the ideal age for dressing little girls is around 2 and 3. The baby stuff is cute, but not as inspiring.

I agree! I have a much easier time finding stuff for DS than DD. For DD i usually go with Gymboree, a little Gap, some Crazy 8, and some random Kohls stuff thrown in. I have recently started shopping Mini Boden too, but it's pretty pricey and they don't have that many coupons.

When SIL was pregnant we all just assumed it was a boy (DH has 3 brothers and only 1 sister and at that point there was only nephews). At first I was disappointed but then I started looking at all the boy cute boy stuff. When my neice arrived it took me a little to get excited about girl stuff again.

I don't dress DD in frilly stuff. My favorite brands for DD are Gymboree and Oshkosh with a little Carters and Old Navy thrown in.

There are more options for girls in my experience. We never have problems finding a variety of clothing for Grace but if I don't want to dress my next child as "daddys little builder" or "Little Slugger" than I am SOL for this guy. For every two racks of boy clothes, there are 10 for girls.

I was thinking this exact same thing yesterday! I have a 4 yr old son and we are absolutely thrilled to have a girl this time around. I was so excited to start shopping for girl clothes and was a bit disappointed yesterday for the exact same reason. I'm not too into the "over the top princess" sort of stuff. I have no recommendations but appreciate the post!

See, I have to disagree! I have a son and am having another. I feel stuck when it comes to his clothes, whereas when I shop for my niece I could go broke! I guess I feel like girls can wear dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, jumpers and overall and have all kinds of accessories, while boys don't have all that. I have found that boys sections are soooooo small compared to girls. When I shop for DS I can find nice things, don't get me wrong, but as he's getting older, it seems even more limited than when he was an infant.

I shop for my niece at Janie and Jack, Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, Macy's, Nordstrom's (which has some of the BEST boy clothes!) and girl boutiques/shops. A never ending cycle it seems! I wish they had boy boutiques or store, but there aren't. Ha, maybe that's why I feel like boy options are so limited!

I think you have read my mind!! I am in the same predicament right now!! Love shopping for my little man. I'm still learning how to buy all this baby girl stuff. Not to girly but still cute outfits for our dd to be in end of Jan. Im hoping to have a not so girly girl with bows and tights and dresses 24/7. LOL I grew up such a tomboy so Im a lil lost in the girly girl department.

Nordstrom's is my kryptonite!! I just bought DD black knee high paten leather boots from there!
