Is it normal that my almost 23 month old can pretty much sing the alphabet song? He kind of glosses over the L-M-N-O part (since he LOVES to stick his tongue out to say L and mushes it all together) But he gets the bulk of it and will clearly repeat every letter if you say it first. But isn't this kind of early??

I guess I credit it to being the only song I really know, so it's my fallback in times of tantrums, etc.

Oh.. and he knows ALL the words to the Dinosaur Train theme. Not that there are more than four words to it... Dinosaur Train! Dinosaur Train! Gonna Ride! Dinosaur Train!

That is awesome!

And I think it has to do with repetition. M can say most of the alphabet and count to 10, but he misses several letters and switches between leaving out 5 and 9 when counting.

That's awesome that he knows his alphabet so well! Are there any classes you can take with him that are about music? I sing to my kids all the time, old musical tunes, songs from the radio, or nursery rhymes. See if you can find some used CDS at a resale shop. Or download some Laurie Berkner, my kids love her. She has a great song, "We are the dinosaurs", which it sounds like he might love. If you get him singing now, you can make up little songs to get him dressed in the morning, eat his breakfast, etc.

I dunno. I guess I'm just a little unnerved by him being able to do it. Really wasn't expecting that so soon. He did count to 10 for a while, but has kind of put that on the back burner for the alphabet stuff.

The stuff that comes out of his mouth is just freaking me out a bit. Is a 23 month old supposed to be this verbal? Or do I have a baby genius who is already smarter than me! HA

: ) this is how Sabrina is. she's been singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for about a month now. she's counting to 16 (that's how many steps we climb every day), singing to other songs, talking back to TV shows (like Blues Clues), knows all her classmates by name, knows her name... it's INSANE!! some days i wonder if it's too much too soon, but i don't think so. i just think she likes to talk and show off... much UNlike her mama so i'm ok with it. for now. ; D

He is 25 months old. Doesn't really talk but apparently can spell :0

We know a little boy like that. He's around 2.5 and speech delayed but knows the alphabet and can pick out letters. My kid's a total chatterbox but only really knows "R."

It's eerie, isn't it?

Margaux loooves the "Aybeethee thong" (Yeah, she's a lisper) but keeps trying to skip to "w." She loves "w." She knows all the letters outside the context of the song, though, and reads them out whenever she sees them. She digs counting, as well, though she skips numbers.

Also, apparently there is a color I have never heard of called "greemo." It's not green, or yellow, or red, or anything consistent. I sure wish I could figure out what it was!

Adrian sings it now, but he's a little over 2 yrs old. I think it's repetition. He has a toy that sings it and I'm sure they sing it at his Mother's Day Out program. He's been learning lots of new things since starting MDO, especially now that he goes three days a week. Makes me feel less guilty about putting him there.
