TTC after 35

IVF cycle started...finally!

Hi ladies...I went in this morning for CD3 bloodwork.  Levels are ok, FSH is 12, I think it has been lower, but the nurse said that is within the normal level so ok.

Of course, it's still a waiting game for a bit, the next step is to go back in on 9/27 to see if I can start taking the estradiol, so it seems a while off, but I am just really glad that we are finally getting this going!

TTC since 3/2010. Me 41, DH-49. After 3 years, 6 IUIs and several IVFs we have finally have our beautiful baby girl, born on 11/7/13.

I guess so, it's strange, I haven't noticed anyone else on the board talking about doing this? Did you do it and I missed it?

I have to go back and rewatch the videos for the IVF class because I really have no idea what I'm doing.

I know it's pointless to look back, but I am annoyed with myself for not starting this with the last cycle. I didn't realize that I would basically be waiting until my NEXT cycle started before doing injections, and I know the nurse explained this to me, but somehow I wasn't getting it. I could have started this with my last cycle and not have had to worry about taking time off for ER or ET until late September/Early October anyway. Like I said, totally pointless to look back at this now :)

Yes, I did estrogen priming. You are looking for the LH surge in the cycle before stims. So, you get the LH surge (that's why they are testing you on 9/27 to make sure you O'd) and then you will start the estrogen patch. Do you know if you have a few shots of ganirelix(usually 3 days). Then AF will show. Go for a baseline and start stims on Cd2.. I hope you have a good response!!

Yup, pointless to look back now but I feel like the RE's office don't explain a lot of the start dates.  "If" I get approved, I will probably be stimming at the same time as you.

I believe MtLaurel is doing EPP this cycle too and just started her patch.

  • Absolutely no point in looking back! You're on track now - that's what counts.

Sounds like estrogen priming. I started patches yesterday (7 days post-surge). I am not doing ganirelix prior to starting stims, which is what McIrish and others on EPP have done. Also, someone on IF Vets is taking estrace pills instead of patches, so there are different ways to do EPP.

    Good luck!

This is why I love this board, thanks for the information.  I will be doing Ganirelix as far as I know, I have 3 or 4 of them at home, and I'll be taking estrace pills instead of using a patch.  I had to Google estrogen priming protocol before and found a very clear, concise explanation of it. I don't know whether my nurse explained this to me in the past and I just didn't get it, or if she never told me why. Ah whatever, now I know.

McIrish, hope we are stimming at the same time!
