Be bands/ belly bands/ bella bands

Is there a difference between the Be band you get at Target and all the different ones I see online? I have two pregnant friends who both thought the Target version was uncomfortable.

I don't expect to be in maternity pants for quite some time, but it would feel good to unbutton my jeans towards the end of my work day.

What bands do you have that you love? Also, how many do I need? Do you wear the same one every day or just get different colors to match your outfits (I'm thinking black and white)?

Re: Be bands/ belly bands/ bella bands

  • I bought two online from Target (Be Bands) and they are great - I got a black one and a white one.  I double it over, and just wear the one that matches my outfit the most.

  • I haven't buttoned my pants in 2 weeks. Embarrassed

I bought one from Motherhood Maternity that was $17 and is 85% nylon 15% spandex. It's super stretchy, and I love it, but don't think I could afford a very large supply of those.

I bought a bunch of bebella bands from ebay (https://stores.ebay.com/4Mom-and-Me_Belly-Bands_W0QQ_fsubZ19967419QQ_scZ1QQ_sidZ223044950QQ_sopZ1QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

Not my site, just happened to purchase from there). I got the black and white ones with lace, and the set of 4 prints. These are 90% cotton 10% lycra and are not that stretchy. I think I will need to wash them every couple of wears. The colors aren't great, but with some adjustments throughout the day, they keep my pants up. More importantly, my shirts are beginning to get shorter (thank you beer belly and bigger boobs). I like the fact that they cover my back and belly in case I'm reaching for something or leaning over. The tags do itch like crazy though!

  • I didnt really like the one from Target last time, it rolled up all the time. So this time i would like to get something different and a different material than Target's. I will be watching this thread!

  • A friend of mine works at Motherhood and told me the difference between their Tummy Sleeve and the Bella Band is that the Motherhood one is a one size fits all kind of deal.  The Bella Band goes by your size (there are 4 sizes) so they are tighter and work better to keep your pants up.

However, the Motherhood Tummy Sleeve is like $20 in Canada and the Bella Band is $40 so I guess you get what you pay for.

  • I have the one from target and am not a fan.  It is not so great.  It does not hold it up very well.  It is the same price to pick up a pair of maternity jeans that are on sale and just wear them.... and a bunch more comfy too!

  • I used the Target ones with my last pregnancy and they were fine.  Your friends could have had comfort issues because they bought the wrong size.  I just bought two Bella Bands because they were a good deal on BabySteals and they do seem to be better quality.  I like that one of them had lace trim on the bottom and it's nice to have colors.  My Target ones are black, white, and nude.  BabySteals still has some left in the archives if you're interested.

  • I have a black one and a white one from Target and like them. They don't really work well with jeans because the material is too heavy, but dress pants and most khakis are fine. I usually wear them pulled all the way up instead of doubled over, but thats a comfort thing for me.

This. I actually never wore maternity dress pants to work because the b-band worked so well.

  • I have worn the one from Target with jeans for a few weeks now because my pants don't button most days. I wear it doubled over because it hides the buttons better. I have the white one and when it's a single layer you can see through it and see that my pants are unbottoned.

Anyway, they were fine at first but I am tired of having to adjust it all the time and with some pants it lays weird because my buttons are so far apart.

I can see it working better with a thinner material like dress pants, as PP said. I do not work outside of the home though so I don't ever wear dress pants. Jeans are my every day wear. I plan to get a pair of maternity jeans this weekend.

  • I got the bella bands on baby steals and they're working well for me. I double them over because they feel more secure that way. But they won't work with clingy tops - the pants button does show through a bit.

  • I have the one from Target. I wore it all last week to work and it wasn't that comfortable for me. It kept rolling up and down and I had to adjust it every time I stood up and walked around. I was kind of between a small and medium and ended up buying the small since I figured that would hold my pants up better. So for me it may have been the incorrect size.

Same here, except I have a tan one instead of white. I am now getting to the point where some pants are hard to button. After about 2 days of wearing, the band gets stretched out and needs to be washed. I recently ordered some maternity clothes, but I am hoping not to need them for a while.

ETA I wear mine doubled over and don't have any problems.

  • Thanks for all the responses ladies. I went ahead and ordered a few of the Bella Bands from babysteals. That seemed like a pretty good deal. I may also pick up a black one from Target because I wear a lot of camis under my shirts anyways. I'm excited to get them and start unbuttoning my pants! hehe

  • How do the bella bands fit?  I'm on the cusp between two sizes (1 and 2), and don't know which to order.  I'm usually a size 6 with some 4s and 8s in there.  I have much bigger hips than waist (38" vs 26").  I'm tall, too, if that matters, though my torso is pretty average.
