When did you wear rings again?

So the babies are 2 weeks old - I gained 50 lbs. and am down 30 lbs. at the moment, including what I thought was most of the fluid I was retaining. I tried to put my wedding rings back on, and they won't go over my knuckle! I can't remember when I wore them again after having my son. Anyone give me hope that I still need to lose some fluid or something? Or is it possible this pregnancy seriously did warp my hands??

Re: When did you wear rings again?

  • I gained 60lbs... my rings still are just a tad too tight.  I think I'm finally giving up and getting them resized.

  • I was just thinking about asking this on my drive in to work this morning. My babies are almost 5 months old and I still cannot wear my wedding rings. I gained 60 lbs but I have lost all but about 15 lbs. I was wondering if I should just throw in the towel and get them resized.

  • I also gained 50lbs and lost about 30lbs by 2 weeks. I took my rings off around 24w, and I wasn't able to wear mine again until the babies were about 2-3 months old. That's when all the swelling in my hands finally went away. Now, my fingers are the same size they used to be. My feet are another story--they're still a size larger than pre-pregnancy.
  • Okay, thanks ladies, so maybe I have some hope if I give it time... I do miss wearing them though. I'll probably keep trying to put them on each day, lol.

  • I think it took me a couple months, but I know for sure I was back to wearing them before the boys were 6 months...it's been so long I forget exact dates. :)

  • I gained 80lbs and I'm still up 25-30lbs. My rings fit fine now but it took a couple months for the swelling to subside.

  • At 2 months PP my rings were still tight but started fitting a little better. by 3 mo PP they were back to normal and I've been able to wear them since. I've also read ladies on here 1.5 yrs PP and still not able to wear them :( so i think it just depends

Just curious there is a character on there named RiverSong. I realize this could mean alot of different things.

  • I have freakishly small hands and my rings were already a little big on me. I wore them until 36w (at which point they were like sausage casings) and got them back out of the bank box when the babies were a week old.  They were a little bit tight for awhile but now they fit fine and are back to being a little big.

  • It seriously took almost 3 months for my rings to fit properly again. Even though I was BELOW my pre-pregnancy weight by about 4 weeks post partum. I guess I was just still holding on to some swelling/water weight. I thought about getting them resized and I'm glad I didn't because they fit perfectly now.

  • This week.

I gained 60 lbs. with my pregnancy.  40 came off with in the first month or so.  Then 15 came off over about the next 6 months.  Now I'm dieting and I've lost the last 5 + some and I am finallly able to wear my rings again....thank goodness because it's an antique infinity band and I didn't know what I was going to do if it never fit again.

  • My kids are almost 4 and a half and my rings don't fit like they used to.  It took a long time before I could even wear them again and now I feel like they are a bit too tight and my fingers swell much more than they used to.
  • At about a month after boys were born, I finally just shoved them on!  I had to stop wearing them at about 6 mo pg, so I missed them dearly.  I NEVER take my rings off (only to go in the ocean or pool).  They finally fit normal about about 2 mo pp.

  • Mine fit the very next day!! When I did swell from all the fluid it was in my feet and that was HORRIBLE!! It took a good 2 weeks for that to go away.

  • I lost all my pregnancy/baby weight, but those darn things still wouldnt fit when the babies were 13 months.  I broke and got them resized.  I just think my fingers are forever different...

Oh, that's funny... I picked it because my son's middle name is River, named from a line in one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs. I so wanted River as his first name, but it was just too hippie-ish for my husband to take.

After all these replies, I am not going to give up hope that someday my rings will fit again! Maybe in the meantime I will get a nice chain to put them on.

  • I gained 25lb in pregnancy and lost 30 after birth and the NICU experience caused me to lose a ton, so I was back in mine about 2 weeks after birth.  I had GD so I didn't gain much (GD diet) and the stress of our 2w NICU stay nearly killed me.  I don't believe I'm the norm though.
