I had DD at 11pm and showered that next afternoon. I'm sure it depends on the hospital and their policies. Also they had a walk in shower so I did it all on my own.
I showered about a day and a half later and everyday until I was released (4 days). The nurses gave me the ok but no one helped me! I survived though lol.
I could shower after my cath came out. I couldnt even walk bc i was so swollen and numb. DH helped me shower and my incision did get wet. I just squeezed soap suds and let them run down my belly.. I didn't want to touch my incision. I felt great afterwards.

I was allowed to shower after they removed my tape and took out the catheter 24 hours after my section. My scar didn't hurt per se, but the nurse ripped off the top layer of skin in one spot after taking off my bandages.
That burned like mo-fo!!! It hurt when water hit that spot (not the scar) and it continued to hurt for two weeks.

My hospital sucked (small community one)... no private in room showers, I had to walk down the hall and take one alone... I really wish I would have asked for help. By the time I reach the shower I was already tired. I took my first shower about 24 hrs after having DS. But, I did it. Wasn't enjoyable, but, I was clean.
I will not be having a repeat c-section at that hospital. Which means I need to find a new OB/GYN that works with a different hospital.

They "made" me shower on day 2 and it was incredibly painful to walk to the bathroom, shower and get back into the bed. I don't know if I wasn't medicated enough or what, but I gritted my teeth through the whole experience. It did feel good to be clean, but gosh.. I still hurt just thinking about it! Moral of the story: make sure your meds are working before standing up for more than a couple minutes
I think I showered the day after. My mom -- being the great mom that she is - got in the shower with me and helped me, which was great but I was in a lot of pain.
I showered about 24-36 hours after my c/s, I think... Maybe it was 48 hours.
Anyway, I could have a shower not a bath, that's all the restrictions regarding getting it wet. I also was told to pat the area, not rub it with a towel.
Also, DH actually helped me have a shower since I couldn't move very easily. He was fully dressed (we aimed the water away from him) but he helped me shower so I didn't have to bend or reach.
The nurse dragged me out of bed the morning after the baby was born and helped me in to the shower. It really helped to get up and I felt much better after that shower.

I showered a day and a half later. SO walked with me to the bathroom and a nurse asked me to call for her when I was done so that she could change my bandages. That part wasn't fun but the shower felt awesome.
