Are there any carriers that can be used to wear DD on our back other than a framed carrier?
We are planning to take DD to a college football game next weekend and DH thinks it would be easier to carry her on the back. The stadium is bleacher seats but not sure that the people sitting behing us would be all that excited with her in their faces.
We do have an ergo and a bjorn, so my suggestion is to just wear her forward facing in the bjorn.
Any other thoughts / recommendations / similar experiences?
TIA!
Re: Baby Carriers
Ergo, Beco, Mei Tai, Ring Slings and woven wraps can all be used for back carries.
Older babies (over 15lbs, really) are NOT comfortable to wear FF in a Bjorn. Ugh, my back hurts just thinking about it.
You can use the Ergo to carry her on your back. Many SSC (soft structured carriers) can be used this way, and I use mine (a Pikkolo) like this almost every day. I've also recently started using a woven wrap for this purpose, and it works great! (It feels better than the Pikkolo, but takes longer to do, so I use them in different situations.)
Depending on how old she is, though, you may find that she won't stay confined for that long. DH and I took DD to a soccer game a few months ago (about two months after she started walking), and she would *not* stay on a lap or in the carrier for more than five or ten minutes at a time if we were sitting. (She'll ride in the carrier for an hour, easily, if I'm on the move.) So, I spent most of my time in the concourse area letting her walk around, rather than have her trying to dive off my lap onto the seats infront/below us.
