26 weeks: So much stomache pressure!

So I'm only 1 week away from being ousted from this board so most of you might not yet experience these symptoms but I must vent anyway: I am uber petite(=short) and this growing uterus is putting SO much pressure on my digestive track! I have an ache in the top of my stomache that matches an ache in my back. I have been eating smaller meals the last few days to reduce the pressure and it helps but I still get that acidy feeling in the back of my throat.

Pelvic rocks (aka "angry cat" stretches in yoga talk) help, as do baths, and lying down but it's also important to sit up right during the day so I can't spend the whole day reclining, nevermind the fact that I have a job :)

Ok, rant done. Thank you!

  • I'm in the same boat as you and am also very petite.  Whenever I eat a big meal, I get a terrible ache in my upper right back that takes forever to go away.

  • I'm two weeks behind you and I also feel very pressured by the growing. I'm not really petite, but this is the biggest I've ever been in my life and I've only gained about weight, so far, in my belly (possibly some in my butt..). I also have a pain at the top of my stomach that hurts when I sit at a certain angle and an aching back. I don't take yoga - maybe you could direct us readers to a yoga book or DVD or something that has those stretches you mentioned?

Good luck - you're not alone! If that helps.

  • Hey kregan! Sorry you're suffering from the same discomforts. The "angry cat" stretches are taught in both my yoga class and my Bradley birthing class. I don't use a DVD but Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way describes the stretches - they really help me with aches & pains so regardless of whether you use the Bradley method, the chapter on stretches, as well as the relaxation exercises, may be of interest. In a nutshell: you get on all fours, let your belly sag, then arch your back up so look like an angry cat, repeat. I started out with 10 at a time, 3 times a day and it really reduced the back ache! Hope this helps :)

  • I use the GAIAM yoga DVD for pregnancy and it is awesome! I ordered it on netflix, so it was convenient to try without buying it first...You do need to have some props (ie a chair, a blanket, a stretchy band, and a block) however, it was really worth it to get a great series of low impact stretches- and guided relaxation at the end. I am 23 weeks pregnant and they have 3 woman to watch one in her first tri, one in her 2nd, and one in her 3rd-it is easy to follow the modified version depending on how far along in your pregnancy you are. I really liked it :)
  • the stomach pain just started for me today. im pretty sure its her moving up under my right boob, but OUCH oh my goodness it is not pleasant.
