White noise machine?

I'm thinking this will be perfect to drown out some of the neighbor noise but have never used one before. Any recommendations?  Smile

Re: White noise machine?

  • We bought a cheap air purifier, makes just enough noise and keeps the air cleaner than it would have been. I would personally stay away from noise machines with ocean or nature sounds. They never seem relaxing to me.

  • We have this one: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=14643125. We've been using it for DD for a few months now. This one is great because it plays all night long and doesn't shut off until you turn it off (although it has a timer option too). Because DD still wakes at night and DH is loud, we will be getting one for DS too! We got ours in Target for $19.99 but the Target website is down so I couldn't link it...

  • We have the Homedics Sounds Spa from Bed Bath and Beyond.  It is $19.99 and works well.  We used to live by a 5am bar, so we used it on the weekends to drown out the bar noise.  DS always slept through the night with it.  BBB also has a mini portable Homedics one on clearance right now for $4.99.

  • Sharper Image has a few options that my mom swears by.  We will also be getting a soundspa for the baby's room.
  • we bought the conair infant sound machine.  I ordered it from target.  i think it was only about $25.  DS still uses it today b/c he's the lightest sleeper ever.  And he'll need it for when baby cries in the middle of the night.  I'm definitely buying one for this LO too.

It plugs in or can run on batteries and has bout 10 different sounds, one being white noise, it also has an am/fm radio and alarm clock.  It's great.

  • We got the Cloud B Sleep Sheep in 2 sizes (one for the crib and one for travel/bassinet/PnP).  He seems to really be content with the extra noise. Some people recommend running a humidifier, air purifier, or a fan (if it's warm). We'll be adding our humidifier pretty soon as the dry fall air hits.
