I am double booked. My doctor's appointment is at the same time as a meeting at work that I cannot miss (and I cannot send someone in my place). My doctor does not have any openings until Monday, and neither does her partner. Apparently the midwife quit, and my doctor is just returning from vacation so they are swamped right now.
Re: How bad is missing your 37 week appt? :(
You are gonna be out of work in a few weeks right? Why can't you miss the meeting? Can you speak with your boss and explain? Yo uhave to go to your appointments.
I am high risk though, I would never miss an appointment, but that is me.
I tend to agree. At this stage in the pregnancy, I don't think you should miss any appointments.
I'd tell your work too bad. If it were me that'd just be the way it is. I refuse to potentially put my baby in harms way for some stupid meeting at work. There are no meetings that the information cannot be relayed or something. If it is that impairative that YOU be there, ask them to reschedule. If your dr is anything like mine, you've had this appointment scheduled for a while. This "emergency" can wait.
ehh, i tend to disagree. i had a pretty easy pregnancy up until about 35 weeks and then my LO started measuring a little small. my 37week appointment was when they measured her, did an u/s and decided to induce because of IUGR concerns. that just goes to show that a lot can change & very quickly.
i guess, though, if your doc has no issue with you missing it, then it's up to you.
It's different for everyone, for sure. All depends on your pregnancy and doctor.
I agree with this. I hate my job, though, and there is no way it would ever come before my baby.
Go Phils!!
i think as long as you've had an uneventful pregnancy and you feel good and baby is moving you are fine. maybe call and get their opinion on what you can do? If the doc is so concerned about you missing an appointment they will fit you in another day.
This. I almost missed my 36 week appt just because of the San Diego blackout and they weren't going to reschedule it since rescheduling it would give me 2 appts during week 37. No one in the office seemed concerned.
My advice is to judge how you are feeling. If you are having cramps, pelvic pressure, other weird aches and pains that might be pointing to labor starting, I'd probably prioritize the dr. appt. If you are feeling good, no worries/concerns, and you absolutely have to go to this meeting at work, just go! You have your 38 week appt. scheduled though, right?
For me personally, I wouldn't miss appointments, however, if your doctor isn't concerned with you rescheduling and you are confident that there isn't anything to worry about right now, then I don't think it's the worst thing if you miss it. Just reschedule as soon as you can, and call your doctor if you notice any changes.
