GTKY: When you were born, were you late, early, came on your DD, or what?

My mom was talking yesterday, and mentioned that both me & my sister were born 2 weeks before our due dates. Of course, knowing what I know now, I wonder about the exact validity of due dates, especially back then (almost 30 years ago).

So, what about you? Do you know if you were born early, late, or around your due date?

(I hope y'all don't see this as a lame question. It's my first attempt at a GTKY. Big Smile )

I was about a week early and my brother was 6 weeks early. My mom said both of us came so quickly she missed out on the epidural. Eeek. Hope that is not genetic.

I was born June 20th, about a week early. My mom always tells me, it was a hot day and she ate a chili dog. Something in that chili dog made me want to get out! I was born within hours of it!

I was born over a month early, but I was a scheduled c-section. My mom had some kind of condition when she was pg with me, I stopped growing at about 33 weeks so they decided to deliver early. I was 4lbs 11oz and 18 inches long

I was two and a half weeks late. I was due on Christmas but didn't come until January 13th. My sister however came three weeks early.

I was 3 1/2 weeks early and I was pretty small, so I think the due date was fairly accurate. That was almost 31 years ago.

My mom said that she was 2 days early with both me and my brother.

However, my grandma is convince that she was a month over due with all 4 of her kids. My mom and I have tried to explain to her that if your cycles are longer that your due from your LMP (not that I used those terms) would be way if but do you think that she will listen. haha.

My mother said I was supposed to be a scheduled C/S a week before the due date because I was breech. She went in for the C/S, and I had turned myself around. My mother decided to wait it out instead. She didn't go into labor until 3 weeks later (2weeks overdue) and ended up with a 10 pound baby. I bet she wished she took the C/S.

This was 27 years ago and did get ultrasound back then, but she said you couldn't see much on them.

I was almost a month late. My mom had complications so they had to keep me in a little longer and I still came out just at 6lbs.

My sister and I were born 10 weeks early. My mom was having contractions for three days but didn't think it was anything since it was so early. Her water ended up breaking and she had to be rushed by ambulance over two hours to the closest hospital that could take care of us. Our original due date was Halloween, I think that would have been neat. ETA: I was 3lb 1oz and 15". I stayed in the hospital for five weeks after I was born and when I got to go home I was still on a heart monitor and respirator. (my sister was pretty much the same)

Interesting fact about me... I was stubborn and late. I was due on my mom's birthday. My mom was born on her mom's birthday. It would have been three generations on one day. BUT... like I said, I was stubborn.

This actually runs in the family. (When I say runs in the family, I don't mean that I think it is hereditary. I know that is is completely coincidence.) my great-grandmother (mom's mom's mom) had her first born on her birthday. She also had my grandmother, who had my mom on her birthday, and my great-aunt who had her daughter on her birthday. My cousin (great-aunt's granddaughter) just had her son one day before her birthday. I guess we will see what happens with me.

Do you know if you were born early, late, or around your due date?

I think I was a little late. I don't know when my due date was, but my mom thought I would be born before the first of the year and I was born on January 23rd.

Then when my mom finally went into labor, I put her through 48 hours of it. I was a little stubborn, and almost a c-section.

I wonder this a lot too, because my dad was supposedly 8 weeks early but weighed just over 5 pounds. Those don't really add up for me.

I was born early, but how much so is kind of up for debate. My original due date was July 9th (grandma's birthday), then it got moved to the 4th. I was born on June 28th. My sister was due December 29th and was born January 3rd.

I was due January 19th (my baby sisters birthday, coincidentally), but was born December 23rd. I was 7lbs 6 oz.

DD was due Halloween, but I had a scheduled c-section at 38w 4d due to her estimated size, not engaging, not going to fit, prime candidate for emergency c-section if we tried. We were expecting an 11 lb baby and she was 7 lb 12 oz.

My two older sisters were in line with my mom, going into labor early. (My oldest sister both of her children were breech and went into labor both times before scheduled c-sections). My younger sister was over a week late.

So, in my family it doesn't run in the family! Wink

My mom couldn't remember when she had her LMP so for most of her pregnancy they thought her DD was in Feb. She didn't have an ultrasound the entire time - this was 1982. They started to realize she wasn't as far along as originally thought and I was born in April.

I was born August 15th and right on my due date. No one can argue that I dont like to be on time!

I was 7 lbs, 10 oz. and 20 inches long.

My sister was born on her exact due date. I was two weeks late, which is a lifetime in June in Arkansas...lol. My poor mama. I also tried to come out butt first (<---putting my best side forward, I say) They were prepping her for the OR when I turned around and came out. Both of us kids were born naturally with no meds.

I was early. I was due on June 6, but my mom's doctor was going on vacation and she was insistent that he was the one to deliver me. She was induced a week early (it was in England about 30 years ago, I'm pretty sure they don't let you just pick your date anymore, at least w/out a medical reason).

I was due Oct. 1st, but was born Oct. 6th. I was 6 lbs, something, so I'm wondering if the EDD was just inaccurate. I'm not sure how much would change in 5 days.

My mom was prepped for a CS because my shoulders were big, but my poor mom ended up pushing me out anyway. She loves to talk about how stubborn I was from the beginning. Stick out tongue

I was a week late. My mom decided she was quite ready for me to get there so someone told her to take some castor oil. She said it was miserable because it clears EVERYTHING out, but less than 24 hours later, there I was. Smile

I was 5lb10.5 oz, no idea how long I was. My sister was born super early...her EDD was February 14th and she was born via induction January 8th. My mom had toxemia so bad that they expected her to die in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. She said that the doctors actually pushed on her stomach to help force my sister out faster.

I was born about 4 weeks early and very quickly- about 20 minutes after my mom got to the hospital. DD came exactly on her due date and was induced with pitocin, one day before my 29th birthday.

The doctors told my mom I would be born on Christmas. My mom argued that I would be born much sooner. She apparently knew what she was talking about because I was 3 weeks early according to the EDD.

I was a day early. My due date was actually my parents' anniversary. Kinda glad I was early so we each have our own day. My brother was two and a half weeks late.

I was due on Christmas Eve, but not born until Jan 10th, about 2 weeks late. Given that I was about 8 1/2 lbs, I think I probably was a late, even though due dates were not that accurate 30 yrs ago.

I was orginally due on December 9, but didn't arrive until January 15. The doctor screwed up the due date. My mom went to the hosptial to have a c/s with me and the doctor corrected himself and sent her home with the new dd of January 9. So I was late.

I was born about 2 weeks early. But the funny part was my mom had been into the doctor the day before I was born and he told her her that it would be at least 2 weeks. I was born at 5:35 the next morning. I was also born too quickly for my mom to have the epidural.

I was born 3 weeks late. They induced my Mom b/c it was snowing & the Dr. didn't want to drive if I came a few days later (I live in an area where EVERYthing shuts down over flurries). I was 7 lbs. 15 oz. & my skin was all dried out.. so I think they were decently accurate.

I was two weeks late, my due date was on April 8th and I waited until April 20th. My mom was in active labor for almost 48 hours and they finally got me out with the assistance of the "salad spoons"

(I ALSO came out facing the wrong way, so apparently really stubborn) 6lbs 7oz 21in. My DD was two weeks to the day early...she was due on August 25th and arrived on August 12th. She was the complete opposite...I pushed literally 3 times and she was out...the doctor was running across the room to catch her. She was 5lbs 12oz 19in

My mother was induced with me about 3 weeks before her due date. Her first pregnancy ended in an unexplained full-term stillbirth about 3 weeks after her due date, so she and the doctor were a bit nervous. He apparently told her that my heartbeat didn't recover quickly enough from a spontaneous contraction, so he admitted her and I was born the next morning.

She was also induced early with my brother - about two weeks before her due date. I think the doctor was going on vacation around her due date and they didn't want another practitioner missing any warning signs.
