what does your LOs fall wardrobe look like?

So I'm going to transition L from his summer stuff to fall (although he is 18-24m in some stuff, 2T in others..its a mess)

I'm trying to think of how much to buy- I'm thinking:

2-3 pair of jeans, 2-3 pair of windpants, 3-4 button up shirts, 9-10 solid long sleeved shirts (for layering or wearing alone with some doubles of white, blue, and grey) 2-3 sweaters, 1 -2 zip up hoodies and 2 pull over sweatshirts....

should I increase somewhere?  i dont really buy a lot of "dress type" clothing ahead of time but maybe I should buy a pair of cords or kakhis (I just cant see putting them on him to run errands in- maybe its because I dont wear them...LOL)

Re: what does your LOs fall wardrobe look like?

  • Hmm. She is needing all new clothes since she's outgrown most of her stuff from last year, or will soon.

right now she probably has 5 pairs of jeans that fit her OK, 5ish pairs of knit pants, either fleece or yoga type pants, a couple pairs of like "khaki" kind of pants but they are colored.. and maybe 4 pairs of leggings.. Those are all in 2T. I suspect she will outgrow 2T in length by winter.. I only have like 1 pair of jeans and 2 pairs of yoga pants for 3t.

As for shirts.. I'm getting her all 3t.. she has some 2t/24 month stuff, but they're getting small, so i won't count them. I think she has like 7 or 8  long sleeved shirts, 2 cardigan sweaters, and I just got her two zip up hoodies. I think she'll probably need a few more things, but I haven't found anything great.

  • Maybe some more non-jean pants that aren't too dressy- like cargos? I got Justin a fleece vest this weekend, I think they're cute on little boys. Now that he's a little older, I like him to be fairly dressed up when we go out in fall- mostly button downs, polos, khakis, cargos etc... I'll probably dress B the same. Nat will be wearing a lot of dresses with leggins or tights, cardigans and she has a few of the Carter's fleece hoodie sets

Justin has a ridiculous wardrobe. He just getting into 2t for his 1st birthday... and he is still in 2t- so he's had 2 Xmases and 2 birthdays full of fall/winter 2t clothes gifts. I'm just noticing the 2t shirts getting a little snug so we may switch to 3t mid-winter.

  • I think Evan has three pairs of jeans and two pairs of cords that are super cute, I don't think I have any cargo pants for him yet. 2Ts from last year are def too small now. He has a bunch of sweatpants because that's what he sleeps in and wears around the house. I still put him in 24mo onesies for bed so he has a bunch of those. Lots of tshirts for inside and I love the long sleeved shirts from Gap - I guess they are like waffle shirts. So he has a few of those. I don't like polos.

I don't put dresses on Leah that often. For one she likes to explore a little too much down there and I HATE dresses and carseats. They don't work well together. So she'll have the same stuff Evan has, well the girl versions.

I go to the Gap outlet a LOT...I love their clothes.

  • What you have sounds good. May want to add in some corduroys to mix in with the jeans. When Ian was that age, I still had him in onesies for the really cold days, especially since he has a longer torso, and tends to grow out of shirts faster than his pants.

Will he wear slippers? Not sure if they're out yet, but that's something we always seem to need once the house gets colder.

  • I hate switching out fall clothes.  All Ty's pants look like he is either waiting for the flood or Hammer pants have returned.  It takes me a couple months to find 3-4 pairs of pants that will fir his body right, then another 20-30 pants that just sit in the closet.  Looks like he will be in size 5 for length but still in 3t for waist.  His shirts always look either too big or too small too, either too short or way too baggy.  It seemed in toddler sizes, more expensive brands were slimmer, like Gymboree, but it seem this isn't the case once you get to kids' clothing.
  • Now that his growth is slowing down he actually has some stuff from last winter/spring that will still fit. 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of khakis, a few sweat/athletic pants, a pair of courds and a few long sleeve t's (I got a bunch at Gap for $2.99 at the end of the season.) He also has a ton of short sleeved t's and polo's from the summer that will fit, so I plan on getting him some long sleeved white and gray tshirts to layer under.

I just ordered him the cutest New Balance sneakers at Foot Locker dot com. I will probably get him one other pair of sneakers/shoes from Stride Rite when they have a good sale. And he has a pair of brown "trek" type shoes that will still fit him for a bit... But I feel like his feet are due for a growth spurt soon!

My mom bought him a bunch of stuff from Gap last month when they had friends and family... The cutest pair of jeans, cargos, sweats, a few long sleeved polo's (which are the nicest soft material), those waffle/thermal shirts in a few colors, a ton of socks (I love Gap and Old Navy socks for E- they are the only ones that stay on) and an adorable fall/early winter coat.

I just got a $20 reward coupon from my Old Navy charge card, and I have a $10 one from a while ago that is about to expire, so I'll probably head there in the next couple weeks to get him some more basics.  Maybe a vest for those cool days, since it's easier than a jacket w/ the carseat.
