Well, if they are true contractions and you are going in pre-mature labor, your doctor will try to stop the labor.
But first, you need to assess a few things...
Are these real labor contractions or just braxton hicks contractions? No need to worry about BH contractions.
Next, are you well hydrated? Not being hydrated can lead to pre-term labor. Try drinking 16-32 oz of water and laying on your left side for 30-60 minutes.
Lastly, pay attention to the contractions. Do they go away when you change position? That's good. Are they getting any stronger or just the same. Same is good. Are they increasing in freqency and length of contraction? Any more than 5 or 6 contractions in an hour and you should call your doc.
Regardless, you have any concerns at all you should call. No need to risk looking silly if your health or the babies health is at risk.
You might be dehydrated. At 28 weeks I had horrible contractions that wouldn't go away and I drank a bunch of water and they stopped. It is definitely something to be concerned about though cause it can cause preterm labor. Hope thats the case and you and baby are ok!!

At this point the best thing to do is time the contractions. If it is true labor you will keep having them on a regular basis and they will be consistent. For my first baby I had 4 false labors before the real thing and I really sucked going back and forth to the hospital. If you are still concerned after counting contractions call your OB that is what they are there for.
