Pregnant after IF

Peeking in with a question

Hi Ladies.  I am holding off on a formal intro until my second beta later this week but today I am pregnant and trying to take one thing at a time.  I am curious, what if any, symptoms did you have at 4.5 weeks?  I was shocked by this BFP and in some ways still finding it hard to believe it's real because I am not feeling a whole lot.  I am a little tired and have occasional cramps.  The milk smelled funny to me this morning even though MH swore it was fresh and didn't smell at all to him.

Is this normal?  I irrationally want to be throwing up and feeling awful as signs of confirmation that this is real...

  • Congratulations on your BFP. Its still really early for you to feel any different - lots of women at this point still haven't even tested yet.   I didn't have any "symptoms" at all during my first trimester, so I wouldn't be too worried that you aren't feeling anything.  I never threw up, never had a craving or an aversion, and didn't really start feeling tired until I hit the third trimester.  Enjoy your pregnancy!

  • Congrats on your BFP! Ya it is a little early for symptoms that scream "IM PREGNANT". The only really early symptom I have had in common with a few people was a sore throat and horrible back and side pain, but that was before my BFP, right around implantation.

  • I had absolutely no symptoms at that time, except perhaps some cramping, which I thought were just AF about to arrive.  I was completely shocked to find out I was pregnant.  I still have very few symptoms at 11 weeks, except cooking red meat smells funny (gross) to me, and I've had periods of indigestion/ gas since week 9.  I've never felt like I was going to throw up -- in fact, being pregnant has been much easier than going through fertility treatments in that regard!

It's totally normal to feel worried at this point, especially if you don't "feel" anything.  I don't think I'll begin to relax until I feel the baby move -- I've had 3 ultrasounds so far, and I still have moments where I wonder if it isn't all just one big mistake...?   Like a PP, enjoy your pregnancy -- I hope that you continue to feel well through the next several months!!!  Congratulations!

  • Congrats on your BFP!!!  T&Ps that you get a strong 2nd double.

I was gassy.  That was it.  I would say around week 5, when I started eating something that tasted good, I could not stop thinking about it.  Even that did not last more than a day or 2.  I would say I did not start feeling nausea until about week 6 or 7, never got full blown m/s.

  • Congratulations on the BFP!  Don't worry about the lack of symptoms.  Some ladies never develop them and others get them a few weeks later.  For me, besides being tired, I had no symptoms until about 6.5 weeks.

  • Congrats on your BFP!! The only symptom I had at that point was feeling more tired than usual. I didn't start to get any morning sickness until I was 6 weeks. For me, it started to feel real really gradually- after I saw the HB, when I hit second trimester, etc. You'll get there!

  • Congrats! I remember feeling like you for weeks. I was tired, but had few other symptoms and it scared me. Around week 7, I started getting nauseos and having other symptoms. Don't worry! They will come!

  • Try not to stress too much!  (easier said than done, right?)  The only "symptoms" I had were like PMS.  I had cramping, bloating and a slightly increased appetite--just like every other month!  I didn't even have breast tenderness!  I started feeling nauseous around 6 weeks and just felt "off" in general around that time.  Before that, I would never have thought I was pregnant.
TTC #1 since 02/09 Dx: Unexplained infertility After a hysteroscopy and D&C in 4/10, 3 rounds of Clomid (and one round of Femara for good measure), and acupuncture for 5 months, I got my first BFP after my first round of IUI with Femara and injectables. I am blessed. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Congrats on your BFP!  I don't think I had any symptoms at 4.5 weeks either, other than occassional crampiness.  The nausea, etc. hit around 6 weeks I think.

  • I didn't really have any symptoms other than one day of sore boobs and some heartburn. At eight weeks the morning sickness started. Don't worry they will come! Congrats on your pregnancy!

  • I think it's perfectly normal to not have any symptoms for awhile. Trust me, the nausea will come! I was sick very, very early, starting around 4/5 weeks. The fatigue didn't set in until 8 weeks or so and I never had sore boobs or anything.

Good luck with your second beta.

  • Congratulations! Nausea started very early for me, probably in between 4-5 weeks. I didn't think that happened! Also at that time I had very sore boobs/nips, and lots of cramping.

  • I think this early it's normal not to have any/many symptoms. I totally get where you are coming from. I have mild cramps off and on and was very tired last week but now, I feel nothing. No nausea, sore boobs or anything. I was just telling DH this morning that I wasn't feeling pregnant at all. I too want to at least throw up or something :)

  • Congratulations on your BFP!!  I don't remember feeling anything other than what I would normally feel at the beginning of my period.  I actually didn't have any real pregnancy symptoms until I was about 6-7 weeks along, and then I started having some nausea and general tiredness.
