Given the sports post below, I thought I'd update. We had our first morning of soccer. It's 30 minutes of practice, then a 30-minute game of three-on-three.
It was SO funny, OMG. They were all so cute, and there was practically no defense on either side, so it was mostly six girls running in a pack in one direction or another and a score each time. Sometimes running off the field entirely, sometimes running to a parent they saw on the sideline, sometimes just standing and watching. Mostly too polite to take the ball from each other. Parents were on and off the field with some kids who were really unsure or upset.
There was a big range of abilities on our team; three girls who really seemed to get it and were total go-getters, one who got it but just had enough after awhile, and another girl who didn't want to play at all. DD1 was somewhere in the middle -- she kept up with the other kids and paid attention much better than I'd expected, and she even kicked two goals! Though one of them was technically kicking the ball into the other team's net.
DD1 participated, she is talking about it positively and said she liked it, and that's enough for now. DH had a good time coaching. And even though there were lots of planes preparing for an air show, she didn't seem that distracted by them until after the game.
All in all, it was very fun for all of us, and I'm looking forward to next week!
