My son is eating 3.5-4 oz every two hours. He's 14 lbs. I've tried to space out his feedings but he screams! I think I got him used to eating this much bc I have an oversupply but didn't know it, and now anything less makes him upset.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but DD nursed every two hours like clockwork until around 4 months. Not sure how much she was getting because we only gave her bottles once in a while, but if we did they were probably 3oz. Just keep doing what you're doing- he'll space it out on his own. DD gradually moved to 3 hours, then 4, and now she's at 5 (which feels like HEAVEN!), plus longer stretches overnight.
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
I can't say how much my daughter ate then but I don't recall ever having much more than 1.5 hours (around the clock) of time between nursing. It seemed my daughter was in a perpetual growth spurt the first 6 months of her life. Breast-milk is very digestible and a little nurslings tummy usually wants to be filled every 90 minutes. 6weeks is also prime time for fussiness, so combined with growing and fussing he could want to be nursed for other reasons as well, (being comforted and calmed or held)
Are you exclusively pumping? I am confused at how you know he is getting 3-4 oz every time? Or doing weighted feeds? 4oz is an average amount for a breast-fed babies tummy to fit.
Re: How much/often did your LO eat at 6 weeks? How much did they weigh?

I know it's 4oz bc i sometimes pump and bottlefeed him. Also, when I went to the LC she weighed him before and after and that's what she said.
Thanks for the input. For the last few days he's been more miserable than ever and I don't want to go right for the breast if that's not it.
