supplements?

so, i was pregnant in May and lost the baby. then, i was taking prenatal vitamins and seemed i felt constipated. very uncomfortable. i found out recently i conceived again and am already feeling constipated!  naturally, i dont have bowel movemts often so i started taking a multivitamin which worked amazingly well for me. the PA at the docs office suggested to only take prenatal vitamins, and nothing as far as my constipation feeling.  any ideas add fiber or something into my diet to ease this feeling? i do eat a lot of green veggies and LOVE salads, but that doesnt help me still... so im at a loss and need help....

Re: supplements?

  • I thought certain stool softeners/ laxatives were ok during pregnancy like Senokot or Colace....you should ask your doctor.

  • I take a fiber supplement when I take my PNV & DHA every morning - I did when I was pg w/DD as well. Something that helps a lot for me as well is drinking A LOT of water.

    Good luck!

  • Yes, adding fiber to your diet will definitely help. That's one pg symptom I didn't have, except when I spent a weekend away and was off my normal high-fiber diet (it's not intentionally high-fiber, that's just how it works out). Try some recipes with black beans, chickpeas, lentils, and other legumes. Make sure all your meals include some veggies, and have fruits for dessert. If you're eating plenty of legumes, fruits, veggies, and whole grains, you shouldn't need a fiber supplement.

  • i dont understand what my deal is. i eat a ton of fruits and veggies. and i still have this problem. when i asked my doctor he looked at me like "why would you be having this problem? youre normal", which clearly i am not at this point. and this is the only symptom that has been the same since my last pregnancy. thanks for the tips ladies, i'll try them.
