Stroller at Disneyland... How old is too old?

We are planning to take DS to Disneyland for his 5th birthday in November. I want to rent a stroller for carrying stuff, but I also love that if DS gets tired, he has somewhere to sit and will potentially whine less. How weird will a tall 5 yo look in a stroller at Disney? Should I even care?

Re: Stroller at Disneyland... How old is too old?

  • We will bring a stroller mostly for a cooler full of drinks. I think there are plenty of older kids there in strollers.

  • At Disney, no age is too old.  Hell, I'd flake out in one if it was big enough.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am

This.  We didn't bring one in May (DD was 5) because she hasn't used one since she was around 3 for regular use.

Ended up renting on day 3 through the rest of the trip.  Everyone was MUCH happier :)

DD is closing in on 6 and I am bringing the double umbrella stroller again this year.  Next year, I think I will bring the single and the kids can then trade off who rides in it.

  • Plan to use one. When I went with my niece and nephew, they were 7 and 4 and the double we rented was a godsend. At Disney, it is a norm.

  • I misread as Disneyworld.  Disneyland is much smaller, right?  Maybe not as nec. at Disneyland?

  • We brought our sit-n-stand and a wrap thing for me to wear DS at our last trip last November.  DD#1 was 4.5 and DD#2 was almost 3.  Neither ever rode in the stroller anywhere else, but both hopped on and off a bunch.  DD#2 even sat in the front and dozed one day (she hasn't napped in years) while DD#1 sat on the back and I wore DS.  I agree that no one is too old for a stroller at Disney unless they physically don't fit.  Like one of the pp said, I'd take a ride if I could by the end of the day.  It's exhausting!
  • I don't think it will look weird at all.  I saw kids MUCH older than 5 in strollers there.

  • Now I'm concerned. We had a double the last time when DS was 3 and DD was 1. We were planning on taking the double for DS#2 who will be 1 and DD will be 3. We were going to have the 5 yo. walk. Now I'm wondering if we'll still need another. Thanks for asking. I wouldn't have thought of it.

  • I have pictures of me in a stroller at Disneyworld when I was 5.  :)

  • My 6 year old will still hitch a ride when an empty seat is available.

  • dont think it will look weird and might be helpful to have for storage purposed too.
  • We are taking a stroller for Darlene in Dec.  We will have our double for Cooper and the second seat will hold a cooler and diaper bag.  We will then bring a smaller stroller for Darlene.  She will be 5 two days after we get back.
