fussy time solutions?

How do you cope with your LO's fussy time each day? Like clockwork our little girl fusses every evening from 8-midnight (or later) and it's unbelievably draining. What tricks have worked for you?

Re: fussy time solutions?

  • We're having the exact same situation... she'll start up with grunting and being restless. Then she'll just cry and whine for the longest time. We just got her some Zantac for reflux and I'm not sure if that's the problem... but she seems to be a fussy baby and boy oh boy and I tired. I've been up to close to 48 hours and I'm starting to get a little loopy!!

  • We have a whole list of things to try...

-rocking on rocking chair sitting up

-rocking on rocking chair on her belly across our legs

    -bouncing on exercise ball

    -offer the boob

-laying on the couch with her feet and legs up the back of it

-us sitting on the couch with our feet on the coffee table and B sitting in our lap with head at our knees (try both facing in & facing out)

-laying in playpen looking at a mirror & toys (trying on back and on belly)

    -offer the boob

    -naked on the change table

    -swing

    -bouncy chair

    -offer the boob

-bath (even if she just had one, she loves baths)

-going for a walk around our yard (she also loves fresh air, even at night)

    -offer the boob

-walking around the house with her on my arm on her belly facing the floor/out

-stand in one spot and bounce gently but quickly up and down (this one BURNS the thighs...but eh, I can use the workout

    -offer the boob

I think that's all......if none of them work I start at the top of the list again and try. Literally. Eventually something works.

  • For us it's the vacuum. Since it's not practical to always run the vacuum I book marked on my blackberry 12 hours of vacuuming on youtube. It is literally 12 hours of a man running his vacuum! The second I put it on she stops screaming and eventually falls asleep.

  • try swaddling and some white noise.  My LO used to love the fan in the bathroom....it would calm him right down.  Just hang in there because the 'witching hour' phase doesn't last too long!
