Re: ? for moms who've already had a c-sec

  • I was numb around the area for a few months but got all feeling back.  The scar was tender for a while but now I don't even notice it.  I had an emergency c-section with DS

  • No lingering pain at all but I am still numb. I don't think I will ever regain feeling in my belly. I can feel a touch but if you pinch me it doesn't really hurt.
  • I still have numbness but no pain.

  • Zero pain, zero numbness. My incision healed very well- my husband and I had to go hunting for the scar the other day. It's a very thin, faint, whitish line. I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

not everyone has difficulties...but i had a very bad recovery from my c-section.

    this

I had a c/s due to breech position but I didn't know until the doctor broke my water and said "oops." It is not the same for everyone but my recovery was very painful. I was on pain meds for 1.5 weeks although if I'd know to get a binder for my stomach it probably would have been less. I cannot emphasize how much I recommend getting one of these.

Anyway, I was mostly pain free within 2 months. I didn't return to work until 10 weeks PP and within the first week I had pain at my incision site again just from all of the movement I was doing. It was probably 9 or 10 months before it stopped hurting during normal activities although it does still hurt if I have any impact on the site (cats jumping on my lap, DS accidentally kicking me, etc.). I finally went to my new OB, he said that my scar had quite a bit of built up adhesions(?) and that it was not typical of someone who had a c/s 1 year ago. So, anyway, 13 months out here and I still have some pain particularly now that I'm pregnant again.

  • Did the moms you know have scheduled or emergency c/s? I've heard more horror stories from emergency c/s than scheduled. Mine was scheduled due to breech baby & it was a breeze. My scar isn't numb nor painful.

    Good luck!

  • I just had my second c-section about 5 weeks ago. I still have numbness, but I never really think to touch there much anyway.

But the pain stopped after 4 to 5 days. I was still sensitive to touch, but that was all.

  • I had my c section planned, 7 weeks ago because she was breech...after a week I was fully able to walk around normally with practically no soreness, by 2 weeks postpartum I could barely feel ANY type of soreness/numbness etc. The 2 week mark was pretty much when I was completely feeling back to normal. Honestly, the worst part for me was the spinal (I am never afraid of needles, and that was really the one thing I didn't think about beforehand, I wasn't expecting it to sting that bad), and the strange feeling the combination of the spinal and morphine gives you. I don't like not being able to control any movement from the armpits down, and I was sweating and shivering at the same time for pretty much 24 hours after surgery...you will do great. It's a weird experience, but the more positive attitude you have about it, the better you will do. And don't believe horror stories, it honestly is not bad at all, just weird! Good luck :)
