Swollen Ankle Remedies?

I have been lucky to not have much swelling this pregnancy. BUT, my sister got married this weekend and so for the last 3 days I have been walking around, up on my feet much more than normal. At the end of the day I find I have very swollen ankles, but no swelling anywhere else. The swelling goes down after a good night's rest, but was wondering if you ladies had any remedies that helped. They are uncomfortable and this week is also going to be busy, so I am guessing I will continue to have this problem.

On a normal day, I am a SAHM, so I try to take mini-breaks all day to put my feet up which seems to have kept the swelling away.

TIA

  • I know this is going to sound so repetitive, and the advice that we pregnany ladies get all the time, but so far the only things I've found that work are putting my feet up and drinking tons of water.

  • If you can wear long pants then I would suggest compression socks.  They have helped me so far.

  • The best thing that has helped me me is spending 30 minutes with my feet above my heart on my left side.  My nurse mother told me it's most important that your feet be above your heart.  When I'm working I keep my feet up on a trash can while I sit at my desk. It's not above my head but I have noticed it helps.

Put them up as much as you can, and feel free to get DH to rub them for you. It really helps!

  • i agree with pp.... PUT YOUR FEET UP! and drink lots of water, it gets so old cuz thats all you hear when your prego but... till the kankles are gone put em up! lol

  • Same as everyone else has said, but add lemon juice to your water. Its supposed to help with fluid retention.

  • It sounds like you already know the best advice, just put those feet up from time to time :)  you are lucky to be able to do so being a SAHM.  Mine are so swollen at the end of my work days they are unrecognizeable LOL!  Good Luck to you :)
