So, DH and I are pretty much done ttc... and we've moved on to child free living, but I was so sick of feeling crappy when AF was on the way that I decided I would finally try the endo diet. So, I got the book and was completely overwhelmed. NO WAY could I do all that if we weren't even ttc anymore... so I decided to do two things, I cut out dairy and wheat and I can not believe what happened... first of all I instantly lost five pounds without doing anything else, A few weeks in I noticed my neck and shoulders didn't hurt anymore (they always hurt before this, for no apparent reason) then when I didn't spot for more than a day before AF I thought something must be up...because I usually spot heavily for a week prior to AF... then AF came and I had NO PAIN. I used to have to take 4 advil at a time and the pain wouldn't be gone, just lessened. I went on like this for two months and the second cycle was the exact same way, pain free.
Long story short, I thought it had to be a fluke... so this month I ate what ever the heck I wanted... my skin is oily... I've been spotting for 4 days and AF isn't due until Wednesday... I've had cramps for five days... my neck and shoulders hurt again. Everything went back to the way it was.
I'm going to go off wheat and dairy again the next two cycles and see what happens, then I'll do another "whatever" cycle if I think I can stand the pain, just to see if that is what is making the difference.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has gone wheat or dairy free and had the same results? I encourage the endo girls to try it, it's not easy but it feels so good to be pain free...
Re: Endo girls... anyone try a diet change?
I went gluten, dairy, alcohol, and refined sugar free 6 months ago. I also started taking Omega 3, 6, and 9, as well as vitamin B complex, CoQ10, beta carotene and iron (along with a few other supplements recommended by my dietician).
I noticed a complete difference in about 4 - 6 weeks. I lost 10 pounds, my skin was clearer, and most importantly, my pain was greatly reduced.
I'm a believer in endo diets. They might not get you pregnant, but they do make your life more tolerable. I'm glad it worked for you too!

I've been dairy and caffeine free for about 4 months and I do notice a change. I used to take advil (the migraine ones) every 3.5 hours cuz I couldn't get to the 4 hr mark and I was still in pain, only lessened. The first day used to be pure torture - missed school, missed university, missed work. Then the 2nd day would be a different kind of pain as my stomach dealt with the overdose of advil from the first day. Over the last 3 months I've only had one bad 'day 1' and the other two have been fine, still a bit of pain, but 1 advil in 24 hrs beats the past habit for sure. Haven't cut wheat yet, but going to the naturopath next Thurs, so we'll see...
I used to think I'd miss dairy but to be honest, almond milk is WONDERFUL and now when I eat cheese it sort of turns my stomach. Ultimately it's so worth it for the difference it makes that I don't think I'll ever go back to having dairy in my fridge on a regular basis.
